yes! dr. varela...have you met him? he's way cool! i thought he was foreign just from the name but from what i can tell he's american. yes mine is at wash u and i work there as well. i was a little discouraged with the process they have in place but time flew by. i love angela britt, she's an angel. have you gone to any pre-op meetings? 1 is required but i've been to 2. i visit their Facebook page sometimes but its pretty dead on there...not a lot of activity, not sure why. when did you start the process? i started in march. sorry if i'm all over the place....multi-tasking lol

nice to meet you!

Prisytomboy I'm doing well thanks :) compared to a lot of people mine went extremely smooth, no vomiting or anything. Was off pain meds my 2nd day home. And 10 days out i have virtually no pain and am doing everything I would normally (except the eating of course). Not going to lie, I miss my old food desperately, but my will to get healthier still outweighs that (:

@mr_worm umm thanks..I think? lol

@cantw82bme I'm doing great :) 20.2 pounds down since my liquid preop so i'm feeling pretty good. They gave me a liquid loritab and I only used it once. And I actually didn't have a port..so I'm actually kind of clueless to what that is exactly..

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
