I'm confused. You ate in the recovery room? What did you eat in recovery and what are you eating now that you can eat as much as?

Dude they brought me so much stuff, Italian ice, beef broth, chicken broth, coffee, sprite, I know I'm forgetting more. I was so drugged up I ate the Italian ice AND the chicken broth. NOW I can't hardly get more then a couple sips of juice/water and I'm feeling like it's stuck. :(

Wow! I wasn't allowed anything at all the first day. Not even ice chips for my cotton mouth. liquids do go down easier and you can usually have more of them than solids. I'm not sure though why you would be able to consume more liquids the day of surgery vs. now other than to say, right after surgery your stomach probably had no feeling in it due to the anesthesia and pain meds. Also, just so you know, even on solids, the amount I can eat can vary. There are times a certain a,punt of something fills me up and other times that same amount isn't enough.

It's possible that the pain meds you were on are what allowed you to eat so much. Maybe you couldn't feel the discomfort of eating in the hospital because of the meds. But if you're worried, call your doctor's office. Better safe than sorry!

My days 1& 2 in the hospital were the same jell-o, Popsicles, broth, crystal lite, coffee. I think I may have sipped on something here and there but not enough to make a difference. It was difficult to consume anything. I do recall Day 3, discharge day I had 4oz of crystal lite

Wow. Sprite? I'm shocked that they gave you sprite in the hospital. At 2 weeks out, it would take all day to drink 4 ozs of anything. I'm 4 weeks out and I still can't drink 4 oz at one time. People are different. I'm sure that you're fine.

My best guess is that while in the hospital you had I.V. Anti-inflamitories. These kept the swelling of you're stomach to a minimum. Now that you are out and a few days have past those meds have worn off & your stomach has swollen, thus creating the tighter restriction

How can you only get 4oz of Fluid in and stay hydrated?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
