What Are All The Possible Clear Proteins That I Can Buy And Where Is The Cheapest?

Recommended Posts

Since Clear Liquids are only for a week for me, and since I have been reading the board I notice that nectar samples seems to be the thing to do. Any suggestions on how many I should buy, and where is the cheapest? All other clear Protein mixes suggestions are welcome as well.

I'm preop but I started using pro7ein. It's very light you mix it with Water. I like it but I want to check with my doctor if I can use it post op for the first stage.

www.unjury.com They have a chicken Soup Protein mix that you can use during your clear liquids phase. It will mix and suppose to taste just like chicken broth. I cannot vouch for taste as I havent sampled yet.

How many days will you be in the hospital? I was in 5 days many people are in for 1 - 4 days. I didn't need that many many days of clear.

Isopure Green Tea with Lemon is not that bad, but I added Lemon Mio. I only needed 2 bottles. I couldn't get that much Protein in and I mostly concentrated on my Water intake for the first week or two anyhow. Purchasable at GNC. They have different flavors (most Isopure I don't like) but it's easy to choke down 8 ounces with ice cubes to get extra Protein in. I normally add MIO to it to make it taste better. They have grape, alpine punch, orange and a few other flavors. Cost is about $5.85 and they usually have a running discount, so it costs about $8.50 for two bottles.

You can call Syntrax and order 14 variety sample packs for $14.00 - no shipping & handling charge to find something you like first. 866-333-7403 ext. 803 *if they don't answer, leave your name and number and they call you back. At this time I was desperate because though I'm on full liquid, I couldn't handle my normal Protein shake any longer, and I found out that Vitamin Shoppe sells the nectar and there is one in the next town. A great suggestion is to find a Vitamin Shoppe near you. http://www.vitaminsh...tent/en/stores/

I never heard of the place, but we have one in the next town. I purchased Fuzzy Navel because so many recommended it. It cost $33.49 for a 2lb tub - compared with buying it directly from Syntrax Nectar which is over $59.00.

I bought mine at Vitamin Shoppe (look up for the closest in your area because I never knew there was one near me and there is one in my next town). It cost me $33.00 for a 2lb. tub.

The most important thing is never to buy too much of anything until you see how well like you like it.

It is always good though to have a clear form of liquid to get down when you are low on your Proteins.

Remember at first, you aren't going to get 60-80 grams of protein down. I was 3 weeks out and was still trying to get down 20 grams a day.

For full liquids I went back to the shakes I had 7 months prior to surgery and that was Pure Protein 100% whey Protein Frosty chocolate 2lb tubs I purchased from Target. 25 grams of protein - add skim milk to make 33 grams. As much as LOVED them pre-surgery the chocolate and the thickness and everything about it was rough on me. I thought it was lactose intolerance but it's not, I can drink skim milk no problem and it actually soothes my belly. Even the smell of chocolate bugs me. Lucky for you not everyone has this issue :)

Good luck.

Thanks. I should be in the hospital 1-3 days according to the surgeon if everything goes well. He just has a requirement of a week of clears.

I have only tried Fuzzy Navel, it's a white powder, but I add Water then shake then I blend it in my magic bullet for a second. It becomes all foamyish at first. I throw it in the freezer for a few minutes, and the foam settles down and it calms down (sorta like a guiness) but it turns peachy/orange in color. It tastes somewhat like a Fuzzy Navel and it's like a juice. They have Ice Tea, Lemonade and other flavors, and I have only tried the Fuzzy Navel so far.

I'm on full liquids and this would be considered clear, I believe but I can get this down easier than regular shakes. Every few days I will try the shake to see if I can handle it again. I think as I get different things in I will be able to handle the Protein shakes again (chocolate). Unfortunately, I spent so much money on different types of shakes and clears that I have to try to choke down some of the stuff I have here before I go out and try new things.

I would recommend checking out this thread:

http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/1267-places-to-get-liquid-protein-samples/

It contains a lot of links to various sites where you can order sample packets. There are at least two websites that let you order a variety pack of the nectar powders to try. One of them lets you pick the flavors. I personally didn't care of the fruit flavored ones and plan on sticking to Isopure, even though it tastes kind of disgusting. I couldn't get past the milky color of the nectar products. I plan on either adding some Mio drops to the Isopure or watering it down a bit and drinking it over Sonic ice.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
