Nettle 3 Posted July 7, 2012 I am 4 days postop from being sleeved. I carry approximately 80%-90% of my 100 pounds in my stomach. I just got my drain pulled today and most of my pain is in the left side where my stomach was removed and my drain was placed. I was told to sleep in a recliner a few nights after I got home. Of course, I have gotten very little sleep. I actually felt well enough tonight (with the pain medicine) to attempt sleeping in my bed. Every position, except my back, is very painful, and, when I lie in bed on my back, my chest aches. Needless to say, I am , once again, sitting in th recliner, hoping to doze off for a short bit. Has anyone else had this or a similar problem? How long did it last?

I didnt have to sleep in the recliner, but there are many that have had to. I did have issues with pain. Not all do, but again it is completely normal at the point you are. Remember, you just had a major surgery 4 days ago and your body is trying to heal. You are gonna need extra rest and sleep for awhile. I think I was about 10 days out before I wasn't so sleepy. Take care. I hope you are able to get some rest. In between resting and sleeping, don't forget to get your fluids in and walk to reduce gas and your risk of blood clots.
