I am nearly finishing week two and am still higher than my start weight lol. Damn site infection and swelling anyway :). I am really struggling to get my Protein in. I hate yogurt and cottage cheese a d can barely tolerate the smell or taste of the Protein Drinks. I am literally starving. How did you guys get past it?

Try using one of those on the go tumblers that have a slit in them to drink out of then you don't have to smell the Protein Drink and try Nectat or Chike they are both really good.

My heart really goes out to the women on this forum, it seams your bodies conspire

against you to hold on to the weight ( but you will win ). I have also had stalls (one also at 4 weeks) but when it breaks a loose weight in bunches. Don't let the scale's numbers justify you decision to have the sleeve done. I would look at it like this. You are taking a road trip to Disney Land and you hit a traffic jam on the way out of town. Don't sweat it you are going to get Disney land and have a great time just a little later than you first thought. Hang in there, and you don't have to be a Super Women just run a sensible program and buy yourself a pair of Mickey Mouse ears when you get to Disney Land to commemorate your journey.

Most people really like the Premier Protein drinks from costco. In fact, in the 6 years I have been on this board and lap band talk, I have never heard anyone say they didn't like them.

Maybe you could try them if you have a Costco..

I got past it by realizing that my wants and hates didn't equate to what I needed to do in order to be healthy. There are tons of protein options out there. Flavored, unflavored, Isopures etc. It takes a bit of experimenting to find something that I needed. Not a big fan of cottage cheese and yogurts, but I found some that work and I eat them now just fine. You can stir a little sugar free Torani Syrup into cottage cheese and it is really tasty. Greek yogurt with some cinnamon sprinkled through it is great. Since you have been using Premiers, check into their website to see how they doctor up their shakes. Protein can be added to smoothies with greek yogurt and fresh fruit. Lots of options, but the main thing to keep in mind is that during this time, you might have to do a couple of things that you might not like. Being creative and trying new things is a good way to get past those hates. The last thing you want to do is not get in the nutrients that you need in order to be successful post op. Good Luck!

Yes, yes, yes, I have hypothyroidism and have lost 80 lbs in six months!!! The sleeve works, was size 24, now 16. I was never able to lose weight, not on any diet and I've tried them all.

Thanks for the info. I feel much better knowing it does help. And one more question, is it true that you dont feel hungry? They told me that the hormone that makes you hungry almost disappears but I wanted to know if its true you only eat because you have to and nor because you are hungry?

Hunger is not an issue, I start to feel weak and take a few bites of Protein and I'm good to go until 4-5 hrs later. It's amazing how I'm not preoccupied with food 24/7!

Alert: my new picture will be uploaded soon!

Hunger is a very individual issue. Some folks feel hungry often...others don't. For me, I had a honeymoon period of about six weeks while my stomach was healing, and I never felt hungry. After that, the hunger returned and I had to really focus on my hunger and my food...I tried a few different approaches in order to learn how to live with my sleeve. Right now (this could change), I need two or three tall 20 oz. Protein drinks each day to be sure to get in my protein and Water. Those drinks (110 calories and 25 grams of protein and 20 oz. Fluid each) have made a huge difference for me. BTW, I mix chocolate Protein Powder with about 3 ounces of cold water and then fill up the glass with Decaf coffee.< /p>

This is very true. Hunger will return at some point. It may take some longer than others. I went almost 5 months before I started getting the munchies, but I get them now. I'm not talking about head hunger, this is the plain old stomach growling type that was there before surgery. It's fine, you just learn to deal with it and move on. I eat about 5 times a day to keep things from getting out of whack. Not an issue, but the hunger will reappear.

I was sleeved on 2/19 and went through a stall which last two weeks and broke in a big way when I increases my Protein and Water intake. I am now down 56lbs. I was initially disappointed when I went to my first post-op appointment because at that time I had only lost 17lbs. Hang in there we have all been there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
