countrygirljtl 0 Posted October 13, 2007 Hi Babs101, I am new to this forum and to all the internet chat/blogs, whatever this is, but I like it!!! I live in Rowley Mass. I am 1 wk. out from surgery, went to Lahey in Burlington, they have been great!! I can relate to everything you are saying. All my pain is in that one spot too. I HATED the all liquid stage, I am in the puree sage now, and doing so much better. I have needed alot more "personal recovery" time than I though, about a week and a half, which seems like an eternaty though. Will return to work/school next Monday, I don't even know what that date would be. I was banded on the 4th. I too wish I had found this site a long time ago, I went through one day of depression and lonliness that I thought would never end!! Doing good today, the sun is finely shining, that must mean something. I want to learn how I can get that ticker thing, I really like that concept. Thanks for listening!! Janet P.S. is there anyone out there that lives kind of close to me???
countrygirljtl 0 Posted October 13, 2007 OOPPSS... cheri52 1 Posted October 14, 2007 Hi Janet,:welcome:to band land! you can get the ticker by clicking on anyone's and it will take you to the site to create your own. then go to the user pc at the top on this page to edit the signature. It can be a little tricky but if I can figure it out anyone can! if you have any trouble just yell. Good luck.
countrygirljtl 0 Posted October 14, 2007 Thank you Jo, I did try last night without success, I will try again. I think it is a nice little tool which gives incentive!!! I have been reading some messages in here which make me worrie a little bit. Some People do not have the same success as others and they are eating just as bad as before the operation. I worry about that, as a matter of fact that was my biggest worry pre-surgery. I have failed at so many other programs and diets and have ended up as big as I am with pre-diabetes, pre-cholesterol, severe sleep apnea, an ulcer and a large gallstone. I am scared, because I am not getting any younger and if this does not work long term I don't know where my future will go. I have to make this work, and I don't mean I just need to lose wieght and reach a goal, NO, thats not what this band means for me, it means I need to lose a significant amout of wieght and stay there, never regain it, NEVER!!!! I just pray that this is what happens. I would love to hear from more long term success stories. What do you think of all that, or anyone??? Janet

cheri52 1 Posted October 18, 2007 congrats to all you newly banded ! This is just the beginning and I'm sure we will all make it to our goals:car: full speed ahead. Janet, I think that you sound determined !!! and thus I have no doubt that you will be a success:whoo:. I think the band may be used by some that for what ever reason, is a poor choice. maybe they don't understand just what it is meant to do, or maybe their family are more wanting it for them than themselves, or maybe it's just a huge case of denial. who knows! this is not a magic bullet, it takes hard work and real life style changes. It encourages us to change by way of some very unpleasent side effects. BUT, you can certainly override it with poor food choices and over indulging in things that slip through no problem. We STILL have to exert some controll over our behavior. Making shakes with "Ben and Jerry's " and sucking down chocolats won't get you there. What the band does that the other programs don't though, is some real help with the physical hunger. It won't come till you start getting fills, but be assured that it will. That will control the volume of food and satisfy you will much less. Now, the head hunger ....well....that's another story, But I am confident that given your honesty with health issues and your apparent will to make this work, I'm sure you will be one of the success stories:clap2:. You GO girl!
Margie122 845 Posted October 18, 2007 Hello everyone, Today was my pre-surgery testing. I didn't realize they would be taking blood again today and they had to take 6 vials from my left hand . Other than that it went great. I'm just sitting out here :ranger: doing the pre-op diet for BIDMC, eating SF popsicles and trying not to go nuts while I wait for my insurance company to approve my surgery which is scheduled for 10/31. It's United Healthcare...I know I've been driving Dr. Schneider's surgery scheduler crazy - well maybe not totally crazy....but I've called her twice to see if they've approved me. She said she'd call me back one way or the other....so I'll just be patient. It's hard! I'm concerned they'll do something (UHC) to mess up my 10/31 date and I've been waiting so long for this..... That's all....hope everyone is doing well. Margie
cindyluhu 0 Posted October 18, 2007 Good luck to all those newly banded. It is so worth it, I love my band! Margie, I know it's hard, but the time will truly fly by. The liquid diet isn't so fun, but the payoff makes it worthwhile. The 31st will be here before you know it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the insurance coming through right on time for you. Anyone going to Dr. Glasgow's support meeting next Tuesday night? Cindy
countrygirljtl 0 Posted October 20, 2007 I need advice about getting the ticker still I clicked on a ticker, created my own (twice), went to userpc and to signiture part. But than I lose it from there, I don't know how to transfer it over. I know it says to cut and paste something, but I don't know which to cut and paste, plus, I seem to lose the ticker and don't know how to keep it. I think seeing the ticker go down would be motivaing!! HElP!!! Janet

I know while on the ticker page at the end there are 3 codes to use. while on there high lite the code that seems right (can't remember) and then go to edit on your tool bar and click cut( or click cut and then high lite! this is where I get confused!) then, go back to the signature page and put the pointer where you want it and click paste from the edit drop down. I remember I thought I lost it too but when I did a post it just showed up! Good luck ............again.:cry
Sue Magoo 71 Posted October 21, 2007 Javern: I had surgery at Caritas Norwood Hospital with Dr. Adam Glasgow. Dr. Glasgow is in a partnership called Glasgow & Glasgow LLP with his Dad. They're both very nice and caring. Their office staff is fabulous. I recommend them highly. They have monthly support group meetings too. The hospital went okay too. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions about them. They have a support group meeting this Tuesday night. You should call and sign up for the meeting if you want to attend. I think there phone number is 781 769 5550.
mpatti2007 0 Posted October 21, 2007 So those meetings in Norood are good for after being banded?
Sue Magoo 71 Posted October 21, 2007 mona patti: The meetings in Norwood are for the Glasgow's patients - can attend before and after being banded. They have specific seminars for pre-banding. The support group is attended primarily by people that have already been banded by the Glasgow's.
