Hi threebeauties

Tummy Tuck was exactly what I expected. I had a difficult first week with the pain, but it really does get better day by day. I am still a little sore, and it is still hard to sleep at times. I can't say for sure what I will end up looking like because I am still swollen and also I must still wear this binder. I did go out last night and treated myself to a couple of hours without it. Its a nice feeling to wear a size 8 jeans and they were on the loose side ! It made all this hard work worth it !!!

Insurance did deny me. total cost was $6700. My band was paid for by insurance, so I can't complain. Feel free to ask any more questions and good luck with your journey !!!

aaamom - congrats on your tummy tuck! Glad your feeling better! I can't wait to see some pics of that little middle!

dreaminbig - welcome home and congrats on your new band!! Can't believe that mix up! I would have been pissed too if I was the doc, but it wasn't your fault. They've had some changeover in personnel there - and I'm sure some heads rolled for that one! Keep us updated on your progress.

:) Hi all,

I am in the process of getting approval to have the band. I have the nutritionist evaluation and 1 support group meeting left before they will submit me to the insurance (Tufts) . I am hoping to have it done at Winchester/Stoneham Hospital ( afraid to drive in Boston). Anyone else have it done at Winchester?

I will update you when information comes my way. Thanks for all the great information.:o

I honestly had port pain for months after surgery. I actually started to think that it might always feel that way - but it did go away. Now, it hurts every once in a while (after sit-ups, etc) but not bad at all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
