Iam 40 yrs old, mother of 5 ( 4 boys 1 girl) I lost my oldest son to cancer 8 yrs ago and my youngest was diagnosed with cancer at the same time my oldest was battling his cancer, this is where my wieght gain came from, I was put on anti depressants because on top of all of that , my mother died 10 days before my oldest son died. I gained 70 lbs on paxil in 1.5 yrs, I was banded on April 6th 2004 by Dr. Ortiz

I had a pleasant journey I had one major comlication I had complete bowel obstruction in April of 2005 and had surgery by Dr. Ortiz to fix it. other then that my band did it's job.

I lost 105 lbs in 18 months then my band eroded in November of 2005 I had it removed on Nov 28th 2005. SInce then I have gained back 4 lbs UGGH!!!

I refuse to gain this weight back. I need a kick in the ass. Someone like all of you to keep me accountable and to report into every week.

So my starting weight as of tonight is 168

Can someone explain the big scarey scorecard to the newb?

I don't do it, and you don't have to. Some folks like the checking off the list every day. It helps you stay on track, then at the end of the month, whoever has the most points wins a "medal" to put in their sig. Cool! But it's too much for me.

You copy and paste the scorecard onto a post, then go in daily and edit, checking off your points as you go. You just gotta remember what page your scorecard is on so you can find it quick. Make sense?

Jeeze LaMadam.. *sighs* Woman, how are you still functioning? *big hugs*

Um.. wow.. what an inspiration you are. I'm thrilled you have joined us. So thrilled.

So um.. (wow.. youre one strong woman!) .. wow

I'm almost too speechless to say anything.. um. Ok.

Do you want your stats up there on the members' page? If so, I'll need your highest weight, your weight at surgery, the weight youre at now and your goal.

By the way.. you got me in the tanning beds this year, and I didnt burn at all. For the first time in my life, I have a tan! That sounds so shallow now. Hm.. wow.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
