Something I Never Expected......

I always seem to lose better when TOM is here.. Am I the only one?

I am very jealous of that! I have decided I am done weighing for the week because it's depressing (I am sure that has NOTHING to do with hormones ;-)) I only have tom every 2 months or so... I get used to seeing the scale drop then...... Oh, here is a pound or two coming back! Sad...

I'm kinda the opposite. Part of the reason I've stayed heavy it's because I don't eat' date=' well let me explain... I get up and have never been a Breakfast eater, so I won't eat, then lunch rolls around and again not really hungry so I don't eat, by the time dinner rolls around I'm starving so I would eat one huge meal a day then snack all night till bed. So it's been hard for me to adjust and forcing myself to eat all throughout the day, but it's definitely helped me to lose weight and not snack all night, plus it seems like I can make better food choices. It's all such a big adjustment for us all one way or another.[/quote']

This was my EXACT pattern before surgery. I can see now why that was a downfall but before I changed the way I ate, I was thinking.... "I don't eat that much" but man, I sure chose the wrong things to eat. And my "snacking"was at least 3 more meals. :-) so great to watch life change.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
