funkeechiggen 135 Posted July 6, 2012 I just came across this story: http://www.wfaa.com/news/health/5-children-in-custody-after-mom-dies-from-DVT-at-Greyhound-station-in-Dallas-161598875.html and am reminded again why it's so important to get this surgery done!!! A woman died from DVT (morbid obesity considered the contributing factor) after traveling cross-country with her 5 kids! The children are now all in state custody... Tragic!! ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted July 6, 2012 important to get this surgery done!!! funkeechiggen thanx for sharing this very sad, but noteworthy article we are all here for the same reason, to lose weight and keep it off forever and a day. whether you are overweight, obese or morbidly obese (I'm talking about all People)- is such a huge health problem. many different health issues happen from being overweight etc...we all know this the whole world should all lose weight. This is advertised and spoken enough about but being heavy is partially due to all the fast food places, junk food - and just all the readily available food vending machines and more that are so hard to resist. Also all soda with that sugar. Not to mention all the gigantic amounts of food we eat and eat and eat we all need to be accountable for ourselves. we're putting the food in our mouths - nobody is making us eat. very sadly this is going to this generation of kids, being overweight - then obesity continuing into adulthood. i hope that some normal sized people who are gaining weight, or the people who are in bad weight condition already, will think about this article and maybe work at their weight. Thats being a little optimistic but i can always have hope I speak of all of the above with the knowledge that i WAS among those many people. that I was morbidly obese. Now we on the board are taking care to make ourselves healthy again with the help of the sleeve. this is such a sad story - the woman being only 29 - but her poor 5 kids losing there mom. too kathy 1 funkeechiggen reacted to this
sssehol 2 Posted July 7, 2012 This is so sad! I am so scared about the surgery causing PEs. I was just diagnosed with a small dvt in my calf during a long car trip. After 3 weeks on lovenox and warfarin, the clot is gone. But I am having second thoughts about surgery even though I am sure my weight was a contributing factor. My heart goes out to this mom and her kids.
