smartypants 14 Posted July 6, 2012 I rarely get nauseous and can't remember the last time I've vomited. I'm terrified of being nausous and vomiting after surgery. How common is it? I know the anesthesiologist will give me anit-nausea meds but I also know that sometimes they don't work very well. Please....someone put my mind at ease! pkehrer 79 Posted July 6, 2012 I've only gotten nausea from drinking Water too fast and have NOT vomitted yet!! *knock on wood* I don't know how it is for anyone else, but my little pouch hasn't given me any problems like that!
aldmb2 24 Posted July 6, 2012 I threw up for 3 days after surgery. They said it may have been from the anesthesia. Yes, it stinks, but it wasnt unbearable. Thank god for IV's
LesKra 8 Posted July 6, 2012 I woke up to vomiting in a bag ( sorry TMI ) right after surgery. I was nauseous and threw up a couple of times ( more like dry-heaved more than anything ) for the first day/night or so. It really wasnt that bad. I have been fine ever since. They sent me home with pills to prevent it but I didn't need them!
JD7176 84 Posted July 6, 2012 I was about the same as LesKra. First 24-36hrs was pure hell for me. Who knew I would die in the hospital of naseau is what I was thinking lol. At first I was throwing up stomach acid, but it turned into dry heaves. Just opening my eyes made my grab my bucket. I was given whatever meds they could give me, but nothing worked. The staff kept telling me it would pass soon....and all of a sudden it did lol. Only maybe once or twice have I felt nauseous since then. Still wouldn't change anything! Shelleypg19 11 Posted July 12, 2012 I am scared of the very same thing. I have heard stories from completely nauseous for a week to it being fine. So I guess we will find out!
