You all are the Absolute Best!!!! I know I'm only 2 months and 2 days out, but this is life changing x 1,000 for me. I've been on every weight loss diet etc before getting my sleeve in May. And to simply hear that I can have one thing I love in the future is truly a Blessing. I Love ny sleeve. Eating is not always easy, sometimes it hurts. I have to chew longer and eat slower. Even for such small portions. I'll get the hang of it. Thanks again. popcorn here I come!!! In a couple of months. :)

I was a large popcorn with butter please kinda person. I am 3 months out and I eat popcorn without problems but instead of the large with butter and only want 3-5 pieces without the butter if any at all..and I loved popcorn! I just don't crave it like I used too..just a handful or less is satisfying for me!

I did find something I couldn't tolerate: Red wine, specifically Chianti. It felt like I was drinking hydrochloric acid. I don't really care though as I'm not a huge wine drinker, but that was AWFUL!

Below in blue.

I will be sleeved next Friday. I was curious what you can't eat after the sleeve is healed? Personally, I can eat everything so far. Why can't you eat certain things? N/A What happens if you do? N/A.

I havern't tried popcorn yet (I don't really care for it much) but I know it's a slider for many people.

When I was still banded I once blocked my stoma with popcorn and spent the next 2 nights refluxing popcorn husks into my mouth. I think that pretty much killed popcorn for me. I like buttered popcorn jelly bellies though. :) (but haven't had them post-op)

I was sleeved 5/7/12, I used to be a huge popcorn eater. Please tell me that day will come again. Ok, maybe not a huge eater but to be able to enjoy it again would be great. Lol...can you eat popcorn at all after being sleeved?

I didn't try anything until I was told it was ok to do. Once I started eating the foods I love (after 4 months), I didn't have a problem with any of them. Even popcorn, which was a big thing for me too. But now, I can go somewhere and know how much food I will eat before I start eating, and actually be able to stop when I know I should. What a change! I also don't have the cravings like I had before.

I am a year out and there is nothing I can't eat now. I did have difficulty with few foods at first not making me sick just didn't feel right in my stomach. Now I eat anything I want just in small portions. If something doesn't set well with you just wait a few weeks and try it again, that's what I did anyway.

Boy, this is me exactly. Word for word.

One year out yesterday. I am at goal and nothing is off limits. Doesn't sit right ... OK ... try it again later. Couldn't eat bread until 6 months out. Lettuce, 4 months out. meat, 7 months out. I tried each of these earlier, but they gave me issues. Pretty much every food had its own "re-introduction" date. I waited, tried them again and each food has come back into the fold. Just because an item doesn't work for you when you try it, doesn't mean that it will never work for you.

It just takes time.

Thank you tlc. I needed to hear that.

While I have not had the lap band, I am 1 month post op and I LOVE my sleeve. it was the hardest and best decision I have ever made for me! I have no (knock on wood) food intolerances at 1 month out thankfully. But i didn't really have a hard time with dairy, spices or anything else pre-op either. I just eat 2-3 ounces and I feel great! Best of luck!

I'm 6 1/2 weeks out and have ate chicken, ground turkey, ground beef, bacon, lunchmeat, shrimp, Wendy's chili, grilled veggies, raw peeled fruit, peeled & seeded cucumbers w/ vinegar, scrambled egg, cheeses, skim milk, juices, Jerky, Protein Bars, almonds, Peanut Butter, & spices with no issues. Chicken & egg sits on my stomach much longer and I feel the restriction sooner. I still can't eat more than 3/4th of a 1 egg omelet. I'm not trying bread, rice, potatoes or sweets, so not sure how I handle those. Protein Drinks are the only thing that make me feel sick like having to lay down after drinking one.

I can eat anything, and I haven't vomited at all not even in the early days right after surgery.

I'm 11 months out.

There are some foods I avoid. I don't eat bread or crackers. I might eat half a piece of toast once every two weeks (usually when dining out). They make me feel very full -- like they swell up in my belly.

I limit my intake of potatoes and tortillas.

I do struggle to eat cold veggies, but it has nothing to do with my sleeve. I had braces installed just a couple of months after my sleeve, so I tend to avoid hard things that I have to bite into.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
