I'm about 6'3" 325lbs. my goal weight is to be between about 210 and 220. Im scheduled for a sleeve august 7. I might be putting the cart before the horse but I'm kinda concerned about being able to maintain my weight around 215ish. I still want to have a little meat on my bones. I weight train and everything like that but I'm just curious if it's somewhat easy to maintain your weight if you try to once your about a year or so in??

Your body will decide your final goal, in my opinion, much more than anything you do will. Don't set a final goal weight, set it a bit higher, say 230, and evaluate it from there...also, it amps up your motivation to hit goal, and then have a lesser goal, not as far away.

Take pics now, buy a tshirt too tight but tight enough to wear, keep it as you lose - in my opinon my tshirts have been better than any tape measurer or scale.

I know where you are coming from. I'm a short guy but I have a large frame and have always been big. I don't want to suddenly become short and tiny guy. Go to the Man Room forum. You'll see that there are many guys into weight training who don't just lose all their muscle after this surgery. They're not suddenly 150 pound, spandex wearing marathon runners. They still look like guys you can play Saturday morning flag football against. It put my mind at ease. Check it out.

I'm right there with ya! I'm 6'4" and played football all the way through college. I spoke to my surgeon about it and we agreed that I should set a goal in the area of 220.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
