Recommended Posts

Go to my first Dr. Appointment on July 30th. I have a packet of paperwork to fill out and take with me. Can anyone tell me about the first visit?! I am also. Concerned about my diet history sheet! How on earth am I supposed to remember every diet I've done for the last 3 to 4 years for I am constantly trying to diet with no specific loss!! Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am a mother of 3 and my oldest is 22. I gained 64 lbs with him at the age of 17 and never lost any of it. I am now at my heaviest at 275 and I am done with this crap!! HELP PLEASE

Hi Gabby, I went for my first visit in March. I remember filling out all those forms and feeling the same way you do. My advice is to fill them out as best you can. Nobody can remember every diet and the dates. Especially if your like me and have tried diet after diet. I am currently on my 4th month of my 6 month insurance requirement before surgery. 6 months seemed like forever but I have learned so much information the past 4 months that will benefit me after surgery. I too have been overweight since I was pregnant with my son who is now 15. I had gained 80 pounds and lost and regained ever since. Good luck with your appointment! You are making the first step to a new you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
