Hello. I was sleeved 3/16 after being banded 5 years prior. I found out 2 weeks ago that I am pregnant. I am having serious problems. I am constantly nauseous nothing sounds good and when I do eat I get sick. I'm not sure if its from the pregnancy or from the sleeve?! I used to get small bouts of dumping so this Is why I'm curious any advice is helpful. I am taking zodran as well and it gives little relief. I am holding at 25 lbs lost since surgery at 138. Haven't lost any since pregnancy and only eating 1000-1200. Can't get my Protein in not my fluids. I need something to change ASAP!

How much do you weigh now? If you are still considerably heavy, I wouldn't worry too much. I had hyperemesis all four times I was pregnant. I barely ate anything and I threw up all day, every day, the entire pregnancy long. This last time I had colitis too, so not only did I puke 10X a day, I also had to poop 10-15X a day. I lost weight in each pregnancy, but the babies were normal weight. Here is the run down. 1) lost 30#, born at 37wks, 6'11oz. 2) lost 40#, born 39wks 6'7oz. 3) lost 50#, born 37wks 7pounds and 4) lost 70#, born 35wks 6'8oz. Your OB can coach you in what to do. Mine (I had 4 different ones) didn't worry at all about my babies. They told me that baby always gets what they need first. Just keep taking the zofran and do the best you can. I know you didn't plan it this way, but look at the bright side; you may get a little boost in getting to goal and get a baby as a prize. Best wishes!

Thank you for your response. I am at 138. It's hard too because even Water makes me nauseous. Do you think it's from pregnancy or from dumping?

I have had dumping syndrome for 14 years. Mine is from having my gallbladder out. I have never been nauseated from dumping. When it happens to me, I have a quick rush of heat that runs up my body and I flush. Then I have abdominal cramping followed by a sudden urge to run to the bathroom. It happens suddenly and all of the symptoms happen within a few seconds of each other. After I use the restroom it stops. When it is acting up, I may have to go several times a day. Mine is very bad. I can dump with Water. So having said all of that, I believe you are having morning sickness or sleeve sensitivity, not dumping. True dumping is literally that; a reaction in the body that causes the digestive tract to dump. My OB put me on the BRATT diet to try to help the sickness. BRATT is an acronym. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Tea and Toast. All of these things are supposed to be bland and stomach calming. Tea is an anti-emetic of sorts. He told me to drink it sweet, with sugar not sweet-n-low. The sugar also helps to calm the nausea and give you a little strength and energy when you are taking in nothing else. And he told me DO NOT HAVE chicken NOODLE SOUP!! He said that the kind of fat in condensed chicken noodle Soup would make a person yak faster than anything.

And just to make sure I am getting this right; you weigh 138 now and have only lost 25#. So your start weight was only 163? That sounds very small?!?

I had a rocky start; trouble eating and keeping anything down. I seem to be doing well now though. I have lost almost 100# and gone from a size 28 to an 18. I have also been able to quit all of my meds (21). I only take Vitamins now. I still have 50# more to go. I hope to be to my goal by 1 year. I believe I will. I'm sorry that I couldn't help you any more than I could. I do hope you feel better soon though. If you need to talk, PM me. I will give you my e-mail address. (((HUGS)))

NO, a 1000 is not too much when you are expecting. I would say eat good quality, healthy food (esp. protein) every 2-3 hours all day long. If I were expecting, I would shoot for at least 1200. Ask your doc when you go.

I had to have a DNC yesterday. I am so off track with how well I was eating. I was eating anything I could keep down. Between pain pills and antibiotics I'm not sure if I will be able to get back on track. My head is so emotionally messed upright now. I feel like the past month everything has fallen off the wagon. I pray I get to feeling better and can motivate myself again

I had a subchoronic hemorrhage that cut off the blood supply. I am finally feeling better in every aspect. Sad of course, but as far as physical I am able to eat healthy again and have energy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
