I have gum, just dont swallow it- I can honestly say there is nothing I crave or miss because I am able to eat what I want within reason of course. I dont deprive myself of anything... ALL thanks to the wonderful sleeve...

Pasta of any kind: Spaghetti and meatballs, pesto, mac n'cheese, even simple butter and Parmesan. I allow myself a bite or two when my husband has it for dinner, so amazing!

I crave nothing because I am never hungry and no longer like food. I miss being able to eat a real meal. Because I can only hold a couple of bites, I cannot taste more than one thing each time I eat. Just meat, no sides..not even a bite. If I chose to eat the veggies/fruit, I have to skip the meat. I can no long eat anything sweet at all. Just a bite makes me sick every time. I did mix a piece of crumbled burger with whole kernel corn and cheese sauce yesterday (2-3oz.). It took me a while to eat it and I was sick afterward, but I have to say it was refreshing.

My Doctor told me no gum because it puts air in your stomach :( I became a huge gum chewer when I gave up smoking 22 years ago. I am also a huge lifesaver gal. Gave it all up, but it is worth it!

I miss nothing. I eat whatever I want. In fortunate that I don't want things that aren't good for me. If I want a cupcake, I have a bite of my hubby's. If he doesn't want one, I have a bite and toss the rest. Doesn't bother me to not finish food at all. Occasionally I do miss the fizz of a diet coke, but I love not having aspartame in my body more than that. I could have a diet coke - my doctor said it was fine- but I just simply would rather not.

Change your perception. You eat to live, not for emotional fulfillment. If you can train yourself in that, you WILL enjoy all of your savory bites!

The first couple of weeks I wanted a Five Guys burger & Popeyes chicken. I gave in and bought one chicken tender, it took me two sittings to eat it. That cure my cravings, it wasn't nearly as good as I rememember it being. Now food is fuel. Nothing more. I can say, chewing has made me much more aware of texture.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
