So being that last night (7/4/12) was my first day Home since I got sleeved on 7/2 I sent my husband to the supermarket with a list of things to get. He got me the unsweetened almond milk, sugar free Popsicles, fat free milk, soup(so that I can drink the broth) and Greek yogurt. However the yogurt although I told him to get it with the least sugar possible (under 10 grams) has alot of sugar(21 grams). Each one is 6 oz and when I divide into 3 it comes out to be 7 grams per serving. My question is if I mix it with plain yogurt will the grams of sugar be less? I don't want to break a rule and will like to stay with the guideline I was given. I think it will be fine and can't wait to start on the yogurt after day 5. Has anyone tweaked their food a lil bit? I added lemon juice to my chicken broth in the hospital to give it more flavor. I drink G2 gatorade, propel Water, diet snapple and reg water to keep me hydrated. Also any thing that can be added to the grocery list to get me through these first few days will be deeply appreciated.

For the yogurt, I purchased plain greek yogurt. That has only 9 g sugar compared to the kind with fruit. I was actually told to avoid the kind with fruit in it because of the skins, seeds, and fruit chunks. I put a couple of splenda packets in the plain along with a splash of some flavor extract (I've been using almond extract and cherry flavored extract).

I was only told to keep the yogurt under 10 grams of sugar. I told my husband to buy plain ones but I guess he didn't hear that part. I don't think that it'll be a problem if I mix 2 oz of plain into it and add some Protein. For Breakfast this morning I had some almond milk with a scoop of protein... It Actually Wasnt bad... The snapple Im drinkin has only 2 grams of sugar and taste Pretty good. Im glad I started doing taste test when the nutritionist gave me the list because I know what I can tolerate and what to stay away from

Vitamin Water zero is the only flavored water my nut and trainer all because my mew stomach is sensitive to splenda; which is what most waters are flavored with. VWZ uses Stevia.

Fage Greek Yogurt 0% has a decent Protein to carb ratio. The others are crap when it comes to Protein.< /p>

Remember protein first!!!! Limit your use of yogurt once you are off smushies; same with oatmeal.

If you want to flavor your greek yogurt get the sugar free Torani syrups (this is the only product i use that still uses splenda) I bake with it too.

Thank you I'm actually going with my brother to the supermarket to pick up some stuff on my own. Figured I can get the walking in while I'm at it. Fage was one of the yogurts on the list yesterday but hubby is a grab n go type of guy. Don't think he bothered to read labels lol I asked for vegetable juice and got V8 mixed with fruit juice to bad I can't take it back

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
