I am 9 days post surgery and feeling amazingly good. I am doing ok with most of the food and still have a little gas. Most of the pain has subsided, and I have my 2 week follow up next tuesday.

The problem that I am having right now is one of my incisions seems to be giving me a little problem. It think this is the one where he got most of his access. It seems a bit on the swollen side, and it feels like there is a golf ball behind it. I am just worried that something might be wrong, if anyone has any input or information that might hlep I would appriciate it.

I'd call the doctor's office and ask about it in the morning. If it's hot, or you're running a fever, I'd call tonight and probably go to the ER. It's probably "normal", but it could be a sign of infection, so I'd definitely follow up on it. :)

I'd call the doc. The left incision where they pulled the stomach out, it was a little hard and fit into the palm of my hand. I called my surgeon's office and they told me to wear my abdominal binder. I had an appointment 2 days later and they checked it and said it was ok. I was afraid it was a hernia. It wasn't, but to be on the safe side, it's always best to follow up on things like that. If you have a fever or it's really hot, then go to the ER ASAP. Best wishes! :)

My left incision felt like it was hard around the incision when I first got mine done! When I went and had my stitches out they checked it and all was fine! They told me some people do that during healing! However if it's warm and your running fever I was told to go to ER immediately

I'm so happy I stumbled across this! My left incision also has a little bump under it not as big though. My healing looks good no redness, no weeping, no pain, no fever, sounds like its normal! Thanks everyone!!!

My left incision has opened up and is healing as an open hole. It looks really weird and gross. After 3+ weeks, I wouldn't think my incisions would still be healing. I don't think it's infected though. I'm really afraid to have it heal as an open hole and then it's going to be a permanent indentation in my stomach and look like a second belly button. :-(

No worries you won't have an indent! My doc said to use peroxide on a gauze a dab it! Then let it air dry!! It will heal, it will just be a little longer, it now will heal from inside out! A lot of us this has happened to!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
