One Week Out - Need Liquid Protein Ideas

Recommended Posts

I need some Liquid Protein ideas. I hate shakes and don't want anything sweet. Don't want o buy Protein in a can at the store. I know that's picky but surely there's another way to get protein on the liquid stage of going into two weeks. I try some yogurt, which is fine, but after a couples tsp , I'm full. I'm averaging 5g protein -if that- a day.

Any suggestions? I'm going to try and go back to work tomorrow at least for a half day since it an office job. Hopeing that being back around people and my "norm" will help my appetite.

I don't know of any liquid Protein "readily available in stores" that are not sweet; however, Unjury makes a great chicken flavored that works well in Water or broth. They make an unflavored that works in yogurt, juices, Jello but you can't drink it alone without another flavor to "mask" the protein flavor. I also used the Healthwise Tomato and beef soups my doctor's office sold, also good in water, broths, or in similar Soups (I sometimes used a French onion and strained the onion out or pureed with a hand blender). These all have 15-20g protein per serving.

How much were you able to drink/take in the first few weeks?

I love New Whey bullets from Vitamin Shoppe. Yes they are sweet. But only 4oz but 42g Protein. I get watermelon and chill them. Delish.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
