I would try not to think about it. The pain is that bad. It's just a little bit of discomfort for a short period of time. Work at getting healthy and smaller portions until your surgery if you can. It does help. :)

You are going to do great! Yes there will be some pain but trust me it will all be worth it! If I were you I'd just wake up and say "ok I made it through. I'm ok. I'm alive." and then just relax. Your throat is going to be dry because of the tube they put down to help u breathe. But you'll be ok!!!

I received a lap band in 2009 (had complications with it and had to have it removed in 2010) and now getting a sleeve on the same date, July 9. I can tell you from experience, the pain is minimal. If you do experience discomfort, you will be given pain meds to minimize it. Gas pain is probably the biggest cause of discomfort from this type of procedure, although not as common as in years past. If you experience this type of discomfort (pain in your chest, shoulders, back, etc), walk as much as possible. This helps to disperse the gas. I can tell you that this surgery is a very safe, not only as a patient, but as a medical professional. I am a Surgical Technologist and can attest that this procedure is extremely common and safe. There a many abdominal procedures that use a laparoscopic approach and patients tolerate it well. Your experience will most likely be a good one. When you return home, you will have a new life to ahead of you. This is my third trip to the operating room (as a bariatric patient) and it's well worth it! I am so grateful to have this second chance. Good luck to you all and God Bless!

I am getting sleeved on the 12th. I met with my surgeon yesterday and he assured me that he would take care of me and that the pain would probably be minimal. He said I would only have a one night stay in the hospital. I felt very good after my visit with him. I'm anxious but so ready for the surgery to be over and start my new life.

Sometimes we have to experience pain to know how good we feel once it is gone.

I am still waiting for my sleeve on Aug. 2, so I have not felt the pain yet. I have had two c-sections and my gall bladder removed so I understand pain. I have found that days 3 and 4 are the worst as far as incision pain. The gas pain does hurt after abdominal surgery, walking the halls in the hospital helps that. Once our bodies heal and the weight begins to come off, we will look back and say it was not that bad :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
