What Do You Want To Do When You Are Healthier?

I would love to start taking photos with my family, I have been photo diving for years and unfortunately my kids are complaining that they won't remember what I look like when I'm not here. I promised them that once I get down to at least 160lbs I will take a studio photo. And yes, the amusement park sounds great! B)

The one excuse I don't miss. I will never again wear panty hose unless i absolutely have to. But youre so right--panty hose at this weight is an absolutely miserable experience and must have been invented by a scrawny man.

I rarely wear pantyhose, but in the winter months I occasionally wear opaque tights with skirts, and it is hell in the morning trying not to fall out of the chair while trying to get the damn toe portion onto my foot!

I can't stop laughing out loud!

I feel like yelling "FISH ON!" every time the seatbelt starts reeling me in!!!

Yep, definitely sick of being strangled by seat belts and acting like I'm trying to "find" the other end when I'm trying to stretch it as far as it can go as I let it go and bring it in and let it go.... and bring it in..

 Then they brake and you have to start over!

I have laughed and cried while reading these posts! It is good to know I'm not the only one who feels this way! My husband has never said anything negative about my weight, but I always hesitate to go do things (ie. company picnics, reunions, large family gatherings) with him because I don't want to embarrass him. I would love to get rid of that feeling! I also look forward to possibly getting pregnant (we've been doing fertility treatments for 6 years), outdoor sports like kayaking, hiking, ziplining...pretty much all the things already mentioned!

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant too! It's been a really depressing time and we've only been trying for 9 months. But I know if I lost weight I'd become more fertile and I'm so excited to have kids. I'm a little upset I'll have to wait a few more years after the surgery. But i'll get over it.

Wow! I completely agree with just about everything everyone else has said! I can't wait for the amusement/water park, seatbelt, hiking, high heels, knee high boots, new positions (and hopefully and increased sex drive all together), clearance clothing (definitely found easier when skinny), pole dancing, dancing period, pilates, vacations, fitting in restaurant booths, not being looked at like I'm a cow when I eat, riding my bike, being more active with the kids, representing my husband as I should at company functions, advancing my professional career ( I agree that weight matters, no matter what anybody says) and the list goes on and on! Oh wait and don't let me forget NEVER EVER shopping at Lane Bryant again!!! That was a good one ladies. And by the way I definitely sweat, and sometimes cry when I try on clothes too.

On a side note, I want to share a funny story about big girl stores: Near my house there is a plaza, and in that plaza there are three shops - Lane Bryant, Ashely Stewart (also a plus-size store) and a Fitness 19 gym. The gym is all windows and it is actually angled so it faces the fat girl stores. Now at first I thought, god how rude, and then I thought well maybe it is to motivate us fat girls to come over and join, then I realized that it was motivation for the people looking out the window while they work out, lol...'I will not be fat, I will not be fat' lol. Sure glad I will never have to go to that plaza again!!!

advancing my professional career ( I agree that weight matters, no matter what anybody says)

I so agree with this!!! I recently had a conversation with my boss about promotability as we were having lunch. He very nicely hinted to me that if I want to get promoted that I would have to drop some weight. He did this over lunch, and told me in confidence, so I very much appreciated him having the courage to tell me something that we all know is there. He basically told me that no matter how qualified he felt I was, to get promoted, that he knows for a fact, that the big wigs at corporate discriminate. It's not fair, but it's how the world is. So I agree with you 100%. I know advancing in my professional career is a huge thing that I am looking forward to.

Oh... and the Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart story facing Fitness 19. That was hilarious!!!! LOL

It's very sad and very true. I lost my last job for being overweight. The CMO flat out said to others that my "outward appearance" was "bad for the image of his team and the company." This is a company that promotes health and fitness of all things, just not for the obese I guess. Performance review, flawless. Deadlines, always met. Other people liking my work and attitude, check. But he didn't care, just wanted me off his team. The person they replaced me with has done nothing but screw up every project I used to be responsible for, but hey -- the guy is blonde, blue-eyed and very fit. Guess that's all that matters!! I try not to be bitter, but I hate how many people have problems looking past weight, gender, race, religion, political affiliation, whatever to see the value of an employee.

I also look forward to (hopefully) a better career down the road!

Got two more to add

1. side boob be gone. so damn tired of looking like a sumo wrestler if I wear a form fitting top. arms practically horizontal.

2. new drivers license with correct weight and picture. in maryland you can only change your license if your weight changes by 20 lbs. that was 36 lbs. ago. it will be a while before i can change (56 lbs) but i will have the biggest damn drivers license photo smile ever seen!

I have been snowboarding since I was 7 years old and when I was 22 (i am 24) I decided to give it up because I felt too fat to snowboard! I can't wait to strap into my bindings with confidence!!!!!

I also want.....

to wear overalls. Not because they are cute, (because they're not!) But because I CAN!, To Speed walk up hills and run up stairs without being winded, To look down a trail from the top and say "piece of cake!", To dance in heels, to Wear single digit sizes, to Get a full body massage, to Have a neck and one chin, To steal my sister's clothes, to Enjoy shopping, to smile at the mirror!

Go for my yearly checkup without overwhelming fear that I would have crossed over to diabetes or hypertension because of the extra weight.

I agree totally, no matter what anyone says I know weight is a factor and a deal breaker when it comes to advancement.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
