4Th Of July Party 10 Days Post-Op...aaaacckk!

Recommended Posts

So my parents are throwing a 4th of July party (Happy 4th everyone!) and I am expected to go...and I actually want to...except how do you deal with all the nosy questions about "how come you're not eating? why don't you want a glass of wine...you always want a glass a wine?" It'll be hard enough not partaking in these things anyway...so hard not to eat and drink when everyone else is gettin' their part on! Anyone else survived an event like this just after surgery?? I really don't want to blow it!...11 lbs gone, and I'm on a roll!

I am in the same boat today - I was sleeved on June 6th. I'm just going to say "I'm watching what I'm eating" or "I don't feel like eating today". Luckily for me, most of the people coming today already know what I have done. Good Luck and Happy 4th!

Depoending on what stage your doctor has you on, you may be surorised at what you can have. Are you on mushies yet?

Hi SleeveDreamer!

No mushies, yet, just liquids until next weekend...can't wait for the soft food phase! I figure I'll just cruise the party with a water bottle with orange crystal lite in it...maybe people will think I spiked it! ;)

I would go if I was you. If they ask why your not eating very much then tell them your not hungry. No problem, they're probably going to be too busy to notice what your doing, and that's a good thing. have a fun time and take care of yourself by following your surgeon's orders! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
