I am wondering how I will feel on the plane flight home after surgery in Mexico. What have you all experienced? Is there anything to bring for certain to make it more comfortable? My trip home is only 2.5 hours so it's not too bad, but I want to know what to bring.

Good question! I have been wondering the same so I'm replying to the topic so I can see other replies pop up in my feed. Thanks!

When is the big day? PLEASE keep me informed on your experience. I see Dr. Almanza on the 19th and am going alone so I'm a bit scared but ready for the change :)

Melissa, my name is Melissa, too. I'm going alone to Dr. Kelly in August, so any post-op Mexico sleevers opinions are appreciated!

I'm 19 days post-op, self pay in Mexico. I was released from the hospital after 48hrs, and spent one more night at the hotel before leaving the next AM. I was a little sore, but not really in any pain. Our flight connected in Atlanta, and I was concerned I may have to have a wheelchair, but we had lots of time, and I felt like walking through the terminal. I can't really think of anything besides a blanket and pillow that you may need. Make sure you keep all of your meds in your purse, and don't pack them in your luggage.

Hi. The plane ride home is a piece of cake. You'll feel just fine. My only suggestion, check your carryon. Less hassle and strain on you to have to wheel it clear through the airports. Youre in great hands with Dr Kelly, I'm 3weeks out, down 26 pounds and have had no problems! Good luck!!

The plane ride home was no problem. I had a 4.5 - 5 hour trip and it was not a problem. I was really worried about gas, but that wasn't an issue. I got up and walked a couple of times, I had booked myself an aisle seat for that reason. I didn't want to worry about clotting. I bought a gatorade after the security check in to have to sip all of the way home.

Have someone else lift your bag whenever you need it done. I didn't check my bag and there was always someone willing to help out.

That some good information ..

I picked a aisle seat cause I don't want to be forcing myself to get out. I had many surgeries and I'm a cry baby after surgeries not that I want to be.. lol

I was also thinking about buying a g2 on my way back si I won't have an empty stomach. Surgery next month

Thanks

I am 6 wks post op... had 2 flights to home ( left 8AM arrived 11PM) so long day. I was worried but did great!

Like others said... had G2 now for TMI comment -- ( which was glad I did since I had my first BM that AM and needed the G2)

And also got aisle seat.

Due to longer day/flight I packed shaker bottle and Syntrax nectar but never used it. Had Soup in airport w/ friend for meal! I was on full liquids by that day!

Also didn't use wheelchair others suggested as I felt like walking when I got the chance!

Yeah, that is my fear too, along with nausea....I hope I can move around some on the plane too :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
