msvickee 212 Posted July 3, 2012 Pain and I are not friends. While on the hospital the nurses kept asking if I wanted more morophine. I got my last dose on Day 2 and gave not had to get my pain meds at CVS. As a matter of fact I called ad told them I would not be picking up the prescription. I don't know what contributed to my minimal pain but I thank God. I guess because I still sleep with a CPAP machine, I don't feel much pain in my deep sleep. The only pains have now are gas pains and I walk those out. I don't have stitches Dr. used Derma Bond so no pain there. 1 MinaT reacted to this
7carol3 212 Posted July 3, 2012 Yay! I wasn't much for the pain meds either. Didn't take anything but ibuprofen once I came home. Good luck with continuing your quick recovery!

I'm not sure if it's an all doctor kind of deal, but I'm not allowed to take ibuprofen or any anti-inflamatories at all. They said they could cause ulcers. That just caught my eye! lol I strictly take tylenol.
7carol3 212 Posted July 3, 2012 I've not been told that, better double check. Thanks!!
lollyfidy1965 402 Posted July 3, 2012 NSAIDs are an absolute no-no after gastric surgery. While I was in the hospital, following my surgery, I had a roommate who was in recovering from her THIRD experience with a marginal ulcer....the result of having taken 2 Advil!! Tylenol is fine, but all NSAIDs (Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, etc) are a quick ticket to a GI bleed, the ER, and additional surgery to repair. If your doctor tells you otherwise, get a second opinion before you take any more. Best of health to you!
BKMama 179 Posted July 3, 2012 This is awesome to hear. I have bad reactions to the heavy duty pain meds so I'd like to avoid them as much as possible.
