Hi everyone. Haven't posted in a while but I am having a problem and don't know if anyone else is experiencing this or if it is even an issue related to the surgery. I am well past menopause (age 68) but in the past month I have started to experience hot flashes unrelated to the weather. My doctor had told me my hormones would be raging because because fat cells start releasing hormones as they are sloughed off by the body. But I am almost 9 months out and have just started to get them. My husband says it's because I am one hot mamma LOL! But they are annoying and keeping me up at night just like menopause. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks as always, Monty

I get them too! Not very often, but every once in a while. I don't know if they are sleeve-related as I also had hot flashes post-menopause and pre-sleeve. I don't have any advice for you, but you're not alone.

Wow! Congrats on your success! Any tips would be greatly appreciated My weight loss has really slowed down. Thanks also for sharing the fact that you get those darn hot flashed too. My concern is that they are back when I've been done with them for over 10 years! Yuk!

You are doing great! 89 lbs is terrific, and loss does slow from the early months. As you get closer and closer to goal, the hardest part, I think, is not letting calories creep up and junk food creep in before you reach it. It gets boring eating the same things every day, especially when the scale is not dropping like it used to, but I tried to focus on my goal of being slender and fit more than the food I wanted at any particular moment. I tracked my food every day and weighed myself daily until I reached goal. If the scale did not move, I just told myself "Maybe tomorrow" because I knew I was eating and drinking the proper things. Slow and steady will get you there!

Thanks for that pat on the back. I try to think and act the same as you suggest but still have some ways to go. I just hope I will continue to lose at least for the first year. Happy Fourth to you and all who post here!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
