I Feel Like I Am Eating Too Much

Recommended Posts

Every time I eat I go from starving to stuffed in a split second, and it's to the point where I feel sick. Is this normal? Am I stretching or hurting my sleeve? Sometimes I think I am eating more than what I should. I've been at about 900-950 calories a day. I am out 3 weeks.

I am curious about this too. I'm 5 days out and I feel like drinks make me feel like that! :(

My PA said to stay under 1000 per day and that with mushies it's hard not to get there because it takes more to get full. She said itll be easier on solids.

Well I am in the soft food stage technically, but I have no problem eating anything because if you chew up anything good enough it becomes soft. Food doesn't hurt anymore while I'm eating it like it did the first week. It only hurts when I am full. I don't feel like I stay full for long though, and then I am hungry again. This worries me because I've had a hard time not eating again when the fullness goes away, which only takes like an hour. Today I munched on that buffalo chicken dip all day with celery. I also eat ice pops when I am wanting something. I just hope I'm not stretching my new belly. I have been losing about 3 lbs a week.

I could be mistaken, but I thought celery was a no-no because it's very difficult to digest.

i am having the same issue. today i had a couple bites of broccoli cheese Soup (just the broth) and iced tea. i was full for a good hour and a half and then hungry again. i thought maybe it was just the stomach digesting very little food quickly and then empty again.

Me too. I'm constantly eating and have to take Snacks with me when I go out. I'm 5 weeks out from surgery. Sushi is my favourite.

hey guys.....I have not had mu surgery yet but have done a lot of research and if you are hungry often it is because you are not consuming enough Protein and Water......and i could be wrong but i thought the calories for soft was more like 600-800

hope it helps

I was told the same thing. No matter how much you chew it up, the fibers are hard to digest.

I need help! I don't get full on the supposed 2-3 oz. I can eat a lot more than that! Then I am hungry again in an hour!

missmachine, may I suggest switching from celery and dip to a more protein-based food first? For instance, scrambled egg or chicken or tuna salad--shred everything up really fine and be sure to chew thoroughly. Also, instead of eating until you're full, think about eating until you're not hungry--there's a subtle difference, but it's important. Eat Protein with maybe a bite of veggie or something, but focus on the Protein first. See if that helps the feelings of hunger. Remember it takes your head a while to catch up to the sense of fullness--see if you can stop a bite or two before "fullness."

Good luck!

Are you taking an acid reducer? They say the acid can mimick hunger. I never lost my hunger so, I have the same issues. I am on an acid reducer but, I don't think it helped my hunger but, you can try and see if it helps. I was also told no celery at least for the first few months. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
