Texarkolina 201 Posted July 3, 2012 Please promise me that if I ever start a discussion about this surgery with my mother again that you will find me and b...h-slap me.....cause I would totally deserve it. Why does my mother feel compelled to tell me about the two people that she knows who had gastric bypass years and years ago that drank chocolate shakes 3 times a day and never lost any weight? Not once..but OVER and OVER again. She is totally supportive....which is great...but I only told her because I knew she would be upset if I didn't. I really don't want a running commentary on my life choices or really any conversation at all about this. Is my a$$ really so big that we need to discuss it for hours at a time with all my family? Can we just please discuss anything else? I have researched this surgery for like a year...so I really don't need your "expert" advise about what some lady told you that her friend's neighbor's son's girlfriend did to lose weight.....pretty sure it was surgery but might have just been one of those liquid diet things...but she looks great! Marty McSkinnystein 342 Posted July 3, 2012 I only had one person do that to me and it's not like me to confront this usually but I said "I'm on a high right in general and I don't want to brought down by anything- so what is else is new?" And the person (family member) totally got it and even referred later with something like "I was going to say....but I won't.." AND DIDN'T. It's all in the delivery. Maybe you (and I-- lol) should practice being assertive. I have a feeling we're going to have to say no a lot more. P.S. I promise.

Maybe she is nervous about you having the surgery and instead of saying she is nervous about it she is acting like that? Just a thought? Amy
Marty McSkinnystein 342 Posted July 3, 2012 Amy- I understand that and normally that's how I think of it. This was a bossy pants who I've tolerated my whole life and said (in my head) she's not doing it again. Yes, it comes from her insecurities (or whatever) but one time (this very important time) I couldn't play the game. And I feel just a little freer for it!
