@ 2Month To 1 Year Out, How Much Fluid Can You Swallow At 1 Time

Recommended Posts

So @ 2 months to 1 year out, how much Fluid can you swallow at 1 time. At 1st it seems that at 1st you are down to very small sips at one time drinking often. So after the swelling is gone are you able to say swallow a mouth full of Water without it hurting. Also can you drink say 4-8 ozs at a time?

this worries me more than the extremely slow eating and I am currently a speed eater by nature. I drink 100 ounces per day routinely and 1/2 hour to drink 6oz w/o pain, WOW.

Well everyone will be different, but Im 2 1/2 months post op. I can now drink( not sip, sip)

From my sport bottle with zero problems.

I adore ice Water and can now manage a good swallow of it! Right after surgery I couldn't even handle the taste, let alone sipping it. I thought, oh man, I don't like my precious water!! Yipes

But now it's all good. I can drink my yummy EAS dark chocolate shakes too. I have noticed my lack of being able to handle gritty or powdery stuff. Can't hack Protein powder or chewable Vitamins, yucky

But I can take my gummy vitamins and Gummy Calcium with no trouble, and tolerate the EAS RTD shakes just fine!!

I am 7 days out and I could actually drink more on days 2-4 than I can now. It takes me about 1/2 hour for 8 ounces, but my doctor suggested I make that more like an hour so I am trying. I love my Water too and am used to drinking approximately 100 ounces per day, but that has gone down to about 80 now and I am really pushing to get that in. I don't have any pain with drinking, but I do get an extremely full feeling if I overdo it.

So when you all work out do you dehydrate too fast and poop out?

I am almost 8 months out! From 242lbs to 141lbs this morning. I'm 5'6. I can drink pretty fast, practically like I could before the surgery.

I have had no problems while working out. But sometimes in the evening after a particularly hard and hot workout (I live in New Orleans and my cardio is usually tennis outside) I find that I get dizzy when standing up to fast. I'm pretty sure it's a hydration issue so I've been trying drink more Water.

It did take all these months to get to the point where I could work out hard. My endurance was really bad before.

I can drink as if nothing happened. Funny thing though. I used to love drinking plain cold Water. Can't stand the taste of plain water now. I have to put crystal lite or something in it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
