It could be Water retention, or if you're coming up on that time of the month, then that can cause a weight fluctuation for sure!

Yes, Water retention probably. Don't weigh yourself again until after it's over. Go from there.

I haven't been sleeved yet, but I am wondering if I will have the same problem. This is day 7 of preop liquid diet of shakes, Water , crystal lite type drinks ,broth and I have lost 3 lbs. I wonder if when I get some real food if I will start gaining. I have only been drinking 2-3 half strength shakes a day because they give me diarrhea. I hope you start losing soon, I know it is discouraging, but hang in there.

Do you track your food anywhere like myfitnesspal? That has really helped me see when there is no way a gain can be real - when you see the calories you are eating. There are lots of sleevers on there also - great support!

Protein Shakes, mushies, eggs, tuna, string cheese, yogurt, Jello basically it

Although I am only 5 days post op I was told by my doctor and dietician make sure you are not graving eating small amounts all day. Eat your 3 meals and 2 Snacks or Meal Replacements. I have not lost anything but the 17 lbs pre op in 2 weeks. I am looking forward to the continuous WL to kick in about 3 weeks. I want it to be steady not rushed. Goto your dietician. Good luck

I will agree...tracking everything you eat may be helpful. Its very easy to have calories sneak in, if you're not writing everything down. I'm just 2 weeks post-op, and am eating between 450 and 500 calories a day. I don't expect that to change much in the next few weeks. Another question that comes to mind....what are you doing for exercise? My surgeon is very strict about getting at least 30 minutes of exercise every single day, starting as soon as you get home from the hospital. I've worked back up to walking (on a treadmill) for an hour, at 2.7mph...I burn almost as many calories as I consume in a day (as crazy as that sounds!). Don't give up, whatever you do....keep trying different things, until you find the approach that works for you!!! Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
