I am having my sleeve done on July 5th. I was excited to find this site. I need to lose 100 pounds and am so ready!!! This has been an interesting road for sure. I went in June 19th for Gastric bypass. Imagine waking up and finding out they couldn't do the surgery!!! I have freaky anatomy and the way my intestines are configured, it would not be safe for me to have the bypass. The surgeon has only seen this one other time. I just sobbed!! He then told me I could have the sleeve. Sooo, I am back on the pre-op diest for THE SECOND TIME and getting excited for Thursday. I am curious as to how all you decided on the sleever vs. bypass? Looking forward to being a part of this group of "losers."

Wow. You must have been so disappointed to wake up and find out it had not been done. Personally, I've chosen to go with the sleeve because it tends to have less complications and also because I was concerned about the malabsorption with the bypass. I am being sleeved on July 6th so we'll be doing this journey together!! Good luck!

Yes I'm sure it was very heart-breaking to wake up to learn this, But if you look at it another way with a different aspect. "Everything Happens For A Reason" That being said, maybe this could just be a clue or a grand design letting you know that the bypass was not the right surgery for you. I am sure you will be completely happy with your sleeve. Best of luck on your upcoming surgery. May you have a speedy recovery. Keep us updated.

Wow, I choose the sleeve bc of less complications and it's permanent. Lap band is not permanent and I knew it's not for me. I just knew that I was eating way too much food and that if I didn't do something, i was going to die. i was so unhappy. now I'm totally happy and loving my new body every day. Yayyyyyyyyyy for us sleevers! This is an addiction for me, getting skinny and eating healthy with exercise. :)

I chose sleeve because less complications...no dumping...cures diabetes...less recoup time and most successful...I'm exciting...just begun This journey

I chose the sleeve because it was permanent, it required less dissecting of my insides and because it removes the part of the stomach that produces the hunger hormone. It has comparable weight loss to the by-pass and I knew that I had a lot to lose (150#). I am pleased with my results. I had my surgery on Valentine's Day and I expect to join the Century Club (100# lost) within the next few days. Best wishes on your journey. You can do it!

Wow! I would have been sooo disappointed too if I woke up and found that I *didn't* have a surgery as planned! But I'm so glad that sleeve is an option for you....

I chose sleeve for almost the same reasons that others had mentioned - GB comes with its own set of disadvantages - malnutrition, malabsorption, rerouting etc. I have met a few people who had had GB and I kinda felt that they were too gaunt looking - no disrespect to them, I just felt that way. And also, I was scared to death about dumping. That almost single handedly pushed me towards sleeve.

We are very fortunate that we have options available to choose from. Dont worry - I have a feeling you are going to do wonderfully well with the sleeve! All the best and have a safe surgery, speedy recovery and great weight loss!!! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
