melissamae99 14 Posted July 1, 2012 I haven't had a period in over a year thanks to Mirena. All of a sudden, old aunt flo showed up today out of the blue. My surgery was 1 month ago. Any thoughts or advice??
Minckle 87 Posted July 1, 2012 Exact same thing happened with me! Did your Dr. tell you to use alternate birth control for 3 months? This surgery plays with our hormones and the Mirena is no longer effective.
tara1021 13 Posted July 1, 2012 I had surgery Monday and started my period last night....a week and a half early!
bogeydog 30 Posted July 1, 2012 Happened to me too. Read it could be the stress of the surgery combined with the hormones.

FishingNurse 1,211 Posted July 2, 2012 Did you have heparin or lovenox injections? That's probably the culprit
jerseyjandj 105 Posted July 2, 2012 I got af 1day post OP.....I had just gotten rid of her a wk prior surf.... And the hormones triggered adult acne! I've always had a clear face now 2 Weeks before she arrive I break out bad ...this month not as bad as the last...lol
tara1021 13 Posted July 2, 2012 I'm giving myself heparin injections daily for ten days
Lilu 65 Posted July 2, 2012 Use additional birth control. When you lose weight you tend to get your period again if you have not had it. And the blood thinner that they give you will bring it down and sometimes very heavy. The Protein first really helps with alot of issue you many experience. Since surgery I am eating correctly and many things correct itself. Good luck keep your head up
melissamae99 14 Posted July 5, 2012 All sounds plausible to me. It sure sucks having a period again after not having one for over a year!...I don't even buy feminine products anymore!
adrimc26 7 Posted July 5, 2012 Same thing happened to me. It is because you've been given Heparine a blood thinner so it's completely normal that your period came as a result
