All I Want To Do Is Sleep (3 Days Post-Op)

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on June 28th. I did not rest well at the hospital but since I came home Friday all I've done is sleep on and off. Even when I wake up I'm still tired. I am on only clear liquids until my 1 week check up which is Thursday. I don't know is this normal?

That's normal. You just went through major surgery and your body is trying to recuperate. It will get better over time. I did things in spurts like clean the kitchen, walk, etc. I have a lot of energy now.

Yes it's normal. Your body is under a lot of stress and trauma at the moment and really worn down. Being tired and run down is a natural reaction. All I did was sleep most of the first week I had my sleeve done.

I was exhausted from the hospital because I dd t sleep well in their bed. I slept and rested when I came home. I had very little energy. I am post op 6 days and today is better than yesterday. No pain, can sip my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken /protein broth and even shopped a little at Target. That said I still listen to my body. Came home and rested after my shirt trip. Rest up, get your fluids in and you will start feeling better. I promise :o)

Sip, sip, sip, walk, sleep, there's nothing wrong with it. I did it for the first 10 days.

I am so there with you. I am not really hurting, but I have no energy. I am struggling to get my fluids in, but I am still trying. I think we will do better once we can start adding in more than the clear liquids. Our appointments are at the same time on Thursday, so hopefully they will tell us both to add in Protein and maybe cream Soups or something. At this point, just keep listening to your body. If it says sleep, do that. I have been sitting up for a few minutes at a time, but even that wears me out. We will get better as time goes on.

Hi there,

I was also sleeved on the 28th. Ive been sleeping so much that's it's been a major challenge to get my fluids in. In fact I just woke up from a 3 hour nap. I'm feeling pretty good so I'm going to go drink something.

Best of luck to you!

6/28 too. I slept 12 hours straight on that Friday then went home Saturday and slept. We are not yet a week out and it is perfectly normal to be tired but it should get better each day. Once you start moving - walking your energy will increase. Day 5 I was walking around Walmart passing gas and all. Lol

As everyone said, it is normal. I was about a week and a half out before I felt like I didn't want to sleep all the time. At this stage, you need lots of rest. When you are awake, please make sure you get up and walk and make sure you get plenty of fluids. It's pretty easy to get dehydrated early out. I felt like it was a full-time job just to get fluids in. I didn't really track my Fluid intake at the beginning, but my doctor told me my pee should be light yellow in color and I should be peeing at least 4 times a day. If either wasn't the case, I was told to drink more. Also, remember all liquids (like popsicles and broth) count toward your Fluid intake. Also, a lot of people (myself included) found warm or room temperature fluids go down easier in the beginning.

Best of luck to you! Take care.

My date is July 17, I started going to a new naturopath last week. She did blood work and gave me a Vitamin B12 shot. Today I went back for a vitamin cocktail IV drip, she says it will help prep my body for surgery. I will be getting another IV cocktail next week and B12 shots twice a week before I leave and back to her a week after surgery for more.. She says its going to help my body heal faster and make me feel less drained, etc. I truly feel that it is working, I feel better already. My body was waaay low on vitamins! I really hope that the prep work will make a difference and I will heal faster!!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
