I eat most anything I want but in moderation and smaller amounts. I also excercise regularly..at least 5 times a week. I'm losing weight but slowly. I've changed alot of things that are bad for me to healthier options. Have any of you changed everything you eat to nothing but healthy foods or are you doing the same as me? I'm a slow loser so I'm trying to get my head right and do the right thing..even 6 months out I'm trying to figure out the right thing to do for me. Some say losing slow is the way to go but I'd like to pick up the losing pace so if anyone has suggestions on what I can change, it would be really helpful.

I eat pretty much anything that I want, but I do try to choose healthier. I know a couple of times I've vomited from high fat foods (like olive oil). Fried foods are not even appealing to me, but I have my days where nothing is.

Feel free to add me on myfitnesspal.com. I share my journals on there and document everything I bite there, as well as my workouts.

I wish I had a magic answer to tell you how to lose weigh faster, but in reality, I don't. And taking time to lose weight is good for your skin so you don't have too much 'hanging' from sudden weight loss. How much are you losing a week now?

Go buy the book SKINNY RULES by Bob Harper. I'm only two weeks out but I love the book and plan to follow when I'm at the ON MY OWN stage.

I do the same as you. I usually make healthy food choices but if I really want a bite of something bad then I allow myself that, in moderation of course! If not then I will only become resentful of never allowing myself to enjoy those foods and that leads me down a bad spiral path. I have enjoyed a steady weight loss and make it a point to go to the gym at least 3 times a week for at least 60 minutes.

There are some bad foods that I no longer have a taste for and that is a good thing. But if i eat a bit of bad food option I don't fret over it. As long as my healthy food options are 95% of the time the 5% won't kill me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
