Yoda 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Just keep doing what u are doing Loriely...do the healthy choice thing and stop when you think you have had enough (even though your body may tell you otherwise). That is what happened to me for the longest time (until just last week actually). Just tell your grumbly belly to shut the #$#$ up!!!!! It's just pissed at you....not truly hungry. And, when you can't stand it anymore....think of how well you did on your pre and post op diets!! You are likely eating a lot more than you did then....so you KNOW you can do it. And...when/if that fails....eat something filling and full of Protein. I found some yummy "Lite Turkey Pepperettes" (Schneiders) that are yummy....and very filling and only 50 cals per pepperette and negligible fat/carb and 6g of Protein. You can do this!! You already have!! Just keep it up. And when the grumblies start .....focus on something else....you'll forget about it. I know it is hard (TRUST ME!!!!) but you'll be okay....and if you do gain a wee bit...no worries....it'll come off again....I've done that...I gained/lost the same 3-4 lbs for a month....but then it will start to come off again! :huggie: I'll shut up now!! Wheezy 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Speeking of hunger. Since the surgery, I have a weird hunger feeling. It seems the lower part of my stomach is grumbling all the time. It's screeming feed me, but I don't think that I'm really hungry. Weird AH? That's my Canadian coming out of me AH? The other weird thing that happens and I've heard some of you speak about it. I'ts like the food gets stuck half way down the eosophagus (not sure of the spelling) and it feels like it may want to come back up. Is this a symptom that the band is actually doing it's job? It sure make you slow down and learn to avoid certain foods.
La_madam 20 Posted August 31, 2006 I know for me even if I make healthy choices but if they consist of carbs I am hungrier. More Protein maybe? Protein curbs hunger. Carbs only make you crave more carbs. I only start my day with protein ONLY, it keeps my hunger at bay for most of the day but if I slip up and have any sugar or carbs in the morning, the beast in me comes out and I binge all day long. Yoda 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Hey Wheezy: yup...re. the stuck feeling; that is the band doing its job right now. Oh, I HEAR ya about the grumbly belly; it still does that though not as bad as after surgery. Ignore the pain in the arse!! It is just whinin' at ya. Eventually it'll quiet down and learn to shut the HELL up!!! LOL
paula 4 Posted August 31, 2006 Dont forget to drink, drink, drink tons of Water. It helps your tummy mechanics work better.
CLOE 0 Posted August 31, 2006 I found heavier Protein type foods will help, otherwise, just watch your calories(which sucks) until your next fill.
Yoda 0 Posted August 31, 2006 what type of heavier Protein type foods do you recommend Cloe? (I can use help here too!).
GayleTX 1 Posted August 31, 2006 have you ever visited www.bariatriceating.com The folks are there are very knowledgeable and helpful about getting thru this wls journey (to which there is no end, by the way).....there is one forum called 'the way to eat' and at the top of it there are pinned a lot of good guidelines about food. Also the postings are helpful....people will answer your questions in a kind and supportive way.....there are some very experienced and successful losers on there
CLOE 0 Posted August 31, 2006 I think of beef and steak and that, as opposed to tuna and cheese, no? I like sheperds pie, its really heavy but no golfballing. I just realized the Mr. and Mrs. Loriely will have matching scars, aaaaawwww thats sooooooo cute.

Wheezy 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Thanks for all of the great advice. Jack, everytime I hear the grumblings, I will always remember that the grumblings are only the distant muttering of Hungry Dragons complaining that they are no longer in charge of my life! THANK YOU
Dody 0 Posted August 31, 2006 I start out with Protein in the morning in the form of blended Carnation Instant Breakfast or Isopure. It truly keeps the hunger away for most of the day. In between I drink lots of Water and too helps. I havent had a fill yet, getting on on the 19th of Sept., but I convinced myself from the moment I found out I was getting banded that it was going to work...mind games. They have worked for me. I'm rarely hungry, and it takes little to fill me up, perhaps it's psychological I'm not sure. I just know I'm down 22 lbs. since July without a fill, so can't wait to get the first one. Good luck on your journey and make sure you get your protein in.
