lil lee 46 Posted July 1, 2012 How many got it repaired? I didn't even know I had it.
notime 340 Posted July 1, 2012 My surgeon told me more patients need it than not. He said it is considered a normal part of the surgery. My PCP said more than 50% of adults have it and that it generally does not have symptoms. 1 lil lee reacted to this

BigGirlVee 57 Posted July 1, 2012 I had one repaired as well and wasn't aware I had one until after surgery, when my surgeon told me he fixed it.
smallgirlsxthree 23 Posted July 1, 2012 I had my hiatal hernia for years, but I did have problems with mine-I had alot of pain from when it popped up and it made my reflux horrible. I had it fixed, and I only have a little bit of trouble with the reflux now 8 months out...
Foxbins 625 Posted July 1, 2012 Mine was fixed during surgery. I didn't know I had one, but afterward my surgeon explained that a lot of my pre-op burping and heartburn were due to the hernia.
sarsar 824 Posted July 3, 2012 I had one, too and didn't know until after surgery when I was told that it was repaired. 1 lil lee reacted to this
missjenny 43 Posted July 3, 2012 I also did not know I had one until I woke up from surgery and they told me they repaired it. I still have lots of acid reflux problems but don't burp as much anymore.
Dooter 1,457 Posted July 3, 2012 I had one, and I could not WAIT to get it repaired. This was the perfect opportunity, otherwise I probably would not have done it. It caused me much grief while I had it.
Toni Day 18 Posted July 3, 2012 I had one too they found during the endoscopy. I had horrible heartburn everyday which would burn even if I hadn't eaten anything. They repaired it during surgery and I haven't had an ounce of heartburn in 3 weeks.
Gene1970 179 Posted July 3, 2012 I had one and had been previously told that it was pretty small and not worth fixing by another Dr. I had horrible reflux for years!!!! My surgeon fixed mine during surgery and said it was pretty huge. I have had absolutly no issues with reflux since surgery. I used to sleep with 3 pillows just to help keep reduce the reflux, now that is no longer necessary. Best thing ever!!!! 1 lil lee reacted to this
