tankerwife 2 Posted July 5, 2012 I was sleeved on June 8th. My BMI was a 32. I have lost 25 lbs. I had high sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure. I was told insurance would not cover me because my BMI wasn't high enough. I had the surgery and paid for it myself. After paying, I received a letter from my insurance company saying they would pay for it. I never even requested that they pay for it. It was a very pleasant surprise. I am sure your doctor won't deny you. Just do everything to get your insurance to cover it. My costs for the preop tests were more expensive than the surgery itself. Have the doctors run everything through insurance. Even if you pay upfront. Insurance covered more than I thought they ever would. . I am still not recovering as quickly as I expected. I had a hiatal Hernia they found and corrected when they got in there. Most of my pain is in the diaphragm area under my ribs. It ranges from slight discomfort to excruciating, and I haven't been able to pinpoint what sets it off. This may be from the hernia. I also can't tolerate the Protein shakes. They come right back up whether I have just a sip or more. Therefore I am struggling with recovery. Good luck, I am told in time that it will have been the best decision I ever made, but right now I am having a few regrets, only because of my problems I have right now. Hopefully you have a smooth process! Could it be your gall bladder??
tshirt1965 0 Posted July 5, 2012 Could it be your gall bladder?? Nope, actually I had my gallbladder removed in 2005. I am still stumped. It hurts all the time. Whether I have eaten or not. I see my surgeon in a few days, I will discuss it with her.
