Was so excited to get surgery and now it's over I'm sad. Not about food it's just I'm hurting and I need someone to talk too. I didn't tell any friends . I though I could get through this alone. 2 days post op :(

When will I feel normal again?

You will feel better every day - I promise. Even when you hit a setback, you can know that it will pass. When the pounds start to come off, you will look back on your Day Two misery and realize it was worth it. Keep the faith.

You are going to feel better than normal and this will be a distant memory!! I remember reading that every day it would get better and sure enough, it did!! This and the pre-op diet are the hardest part of the whole thing. Just focus on the goal and how amazing you're going to feel when you achieve it! Also remember you have a ton of friends cheering you on here!! Hang in there and feel better soon! :-)

I am in the same boat 4 days post-op. Day 2 was the worst day I had. I couldnt keep anything down so I was held in the hospital an extra night. The pain from the incision isnt that bad part for me. Its the lack of energy & the headaches. Im having a hard time getting in all mu liquid, but its my first day home & I need to really get a schedule down tomorrow. Im a bad planner & its reflecting . Believe me when I say Day 4 will be better than day 2.

Fortunately, every day will be better than the last day. This is an opportunity to focus on relaxation, healing, and relaxing. This will be a slight memory in the next 2 weeks. Make sure you are getting in as much Water as you can and some Protein. Thinking for you! :)

The first week to ten days post-op were the hardest for me. Your body is reeling from the surgery, and all those hormones that were being stored in your fat cells are being released. But you WILL feel better...sooner than you'd expect. Just keep sipping your liquids, and try to walk around the house to work all that air out of you that they pumped in for the surgery.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
