Once Again I Need Advice

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow sleevers, I am in need of advice, I am almost 4 months out and have only lost 45lbs I was doing well for a good month averaging about 4-5lbs a week, but now its creeping at 1-2lbs a week. Can anyone tell me how to kick my weight loss back into high gear? I have been getting my calories, and Protein in for the most part and I take all my supplements. Is this Considered a stall? Please help

That's a stall but do not let it get you down. You are losing inches even if the scale does not move. To do a little jump start go back to your liquid diet for 72 hours.

What did you start at and what r u at now?

I was sleeved in Feb and have lost 93lbs so far but I started at 329lbs. Now as of right now I am still losing but its really slow. You are probably like me and yearn for instant gratification. Well it doesnt work like that unfortunately. Most people get around their goal around 8-12 months. So keep this in mind, we still have 8 months to go.

For me I have to pay close attention to Carbs, Fats, and sodium. Carbs and sodium for weightloss and fats to prevent gall bladder attacks. But it seems like once you get closer to 200lbs the weightloss slows. Well thats what I notice from my massive reading of other peoples journeys

I started at 238 and this morning im still 193. Yes u r right I do kinda want instant gratification but I am happy I got sleeved its been a long time since I wore a size 16, I was probably 12 if I remember correctly, lol. Thank you for the encouragement.

What is there to complain about? 1-2 pounds per week, consistently, will ultimately get you to goal. And. like deekaspor said, you can be losing body fat content even though your weight loss is not exactly ideal. Statistically, people who lose slowly and consistently have a higher degree of success with the sleeve than those who lose rapidly. A while back I thought I had stalled, too, but then learned that I had lost 15 pounds of body fat when the scale only showed a 6 pound loss. As long as you haven't developed any bad food habits you will be just fine. Good luck! :)

I'm two weeks post op and only loose about a pound a day. Some days I don't even loose. I walk a mile a day and take in roughly 600 cal a day. Today I came close to my protien goal. I don't know how to kick start more. I talk to some one who was sleeved at the same time and they are loosing 2 lbs per day. I guess I'm just down bc I m at a stand still today.

What exactly are you eating? 2 weeks out. Damn 600 calories. I was lucky to get in 300 calories. Watch your sodium and carbs. Keep your sodium at a minimum. Never go over 1000mg if you can help it. Carbs 45 seems to be my sweet spot

I know you cant eat anything yet but I enclosed some pics of my daily diet and nutritional info so you could see.

If you read Alex's newsletter from early this week (The Sleeve Newsletter), there's an article about how it's better to only lose 2-3 pounds a week. My doctor said that after the first couple of weeks, I should average about 2-3 pounds a week and that is exactly what I am doing. Some lose more than that because they are a higher BMI. I'm okay with losing slower as long as I see the scale move once some. Losing slower sometimes helps prevent sagging skin, etc. So far I've lost 48 pounds (sleeved May 3) and I'm so happy!

a friend of mine started eating a bit of chocolate everyday and it kick started her weight loss again...be careful to not be like me and get addicted!

I have been eating a South beach chocolate bar every morning and it seems to have helped. How odd. It might be just a placebo effect on me cause I read it but at this point every little bit helps hahaha ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
