Gastric Sleeve Surgery At Fountain Valley Reginal Hospital, California

Recommended Posts

:D I am so please with my surgery!!!!!!!!!! It was a great hospital and a great experience to go through!

First my IV, I had to get poked twice for that because i have ridiculous veins that hide out.

At first I was scared of the pain and had to be givin a Valium through my IV (which I recommend highly for any who are worriers)

Then i remember being really calm and cool with it all and even said "lets do this lets cut my stomach" (Valium trip) B)

When I woke up I was in horrifying pain and could barely speak. I got a morphin atached to my IV and could push the button every 6 minutes. Oh and I did! That put me back to sleep.

I awoke to flowers!!!! so nice!!!! I love that feeling!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And everytime i moved in the slightest the first 24 hours I had massive stomach acid and bubles burning my throat and it felt like lumps in my throat.

I then was able to have Clear liquids the next day and the first time i drank my one ounce anything it burned the first 5 hours.:blink::unsure::( and then they kept waking me up constantly to poke me with a needle for blood, anti-blood clotting meds, IV meds or take my blood pressure, temperature and oxygen and Albuteral mask.

But other then the ruitine typical annoyances

The hospital was very clean, efficient and great staff except one nurse who was kind of a ****** but she was curgile she just seemed like she did not like to do anything. :P

So i got to go home 52 hours after i arrived and it was a happy memmory.

My Dr Iqbal promised me pictures and he came through. I have four pictures of my surgery. My liver and stomach were in great shape and the surgery only took 45 minutes.

I left hospital, filled my perscriptions and went home to bed. woke up feeling really good kinda sore but decided to write about the experience while it was still fresh.

THANK YOU FOR READING I HOPE IT HELPS. :)

My beginning weight was 402lbs, I lost 62 lbs before surgery weighing 340lbs the hour of surgery and my goal weight is 146lbs. So far so good. I cant wait to loose 194lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
