I_Sd8_em 28 Posted June 30, 2012 During your search for answers did any of you ask about things such as, Gastrin, Pepsin, intrinsic factor, and enzymatic production, and all the other stuff the stomach makes that is important to over all health. Because stomach acid only opens or unfolds Proteins and allows enzymes to break them down. Also the parts of the stomach where vit B is absorbed is mostly removed? What did you find out as in what did your surgeon say? Thanks
mesaucedo 207 Posted June 30, 2012 I was told that digestion would be harder, that is why some of us can't tolerate red meat and such. We are cutting out a considerable portion of our digestive enzymes so that is expected. I haven't had any trouble with any foods though! As for Vitamin B, if you read the boards you will see that all of us take a supplement for this reason. Whether it be in shot form, chewable or pill - it is very common. VJSlim 156 Posted June 30, 2012 Most of us take vit supplements - my surgeon mentioned this during my pre-op visits. He told that I may need it for quite some time. Iron supplements too. Other than that, I think I dont have many problems. I eat only chicken, fish or prawns in the non-veg food. I dont eat red meat. So I have had no digestion problems. But very early into my solids phase, as I did not have much Fiber in food, I had some !!TMI ALERT!! Constipation issues. But no problems now.
