Paulson1304 14 Posted June 29, 2012 I'm drinking Atkins advantage drinks, there the best drink that I've tried so far. I had the option to drink: Ensure, Atkins or Mucel milk. I can't stand Ensure and the Mucel milk was way to expensive for my taste. So far so good no head hungar, or grumbbling stomach. I have 6lbs to loose before my surgery on July 12 out of the 20lbs that my surgen wants me to loose. I know I can do this 2 week diet one day at a time is my motto.- 1 QDMAMA reacted to this
kimmy*custis 276 Posted June 29, 2012 You can soooo do this! I lost 15 lbs in two weeks before my surgery...and I still ate! I only had to do two days of liquids before my surgery. One day at a time...perfect attitude! Best of luck to you!
MamaOf8 13 Posted July 3, 2012 I have been doing Atkins for 2 weeks in prep for my surgery on 7/23. I have lost 16 pounds and I am feeling really tired and weak but doing ok. I start liquid diet on 7/9 as doc wants me to do 2 weeks of that. I am wondering if my BMI is now 3 points lower than it was before Atkins if I will still need to do 2 weeks. Anybody know? Mommy2three 12 Posted July 3, 2012 I started my two week pre op diet today as well. My dr puts us on Optifast, the first shake I had was disgusting ......hopefully that is not a trend! Can't wait, the countdown has started officially 2 weeks until my surgery! Best luck

MamaOf8 13 Posted July 4, 2012 I know my BMI with 16 pounds lost is now 49. I don't need to look it up, but thanks. What I want to know is if your BMI pre-op is lower than 50, do most surgeons recommend 2 weeks on the liquid diet still, or less?
StormWarning 194 Posted July 4, 2012 I know my BMI with 16 pounds lost is now 49. I don't need to look it up, but thanks. What I want to know is if your BMI pre-op is lower than 50, do most surgeons recommend 2 weeks on the liquid diet still, or less? I am starting with a beginning bmi of 41.3 and I am having to do a 2 week liquid diet. The diet is really all depending on the doctor. I have read some who has higher bmi's with short diets or no diets at all. There really is no set suggestion except for your doctor. As far as "Most Surgeons" if you were to spend days looking back through diet posts, i would have to say its ALMOST even as to diet or no diet and length of diets,

You stomach lies behind the liver and shrinking it makes for a safer procedure. The liquid diet isn't the easiest thing to get through, but well worth the effort. Good luck! 1 pkehrer reacted to this

And my doctor put me on a 2 week liquid diet, as it's suppose to lighten the liver.
