Recommended Posts

Arrgh! Day three on my pre op and I want to EAT so bad!!!! I'm NOT hungry, mind you, but the cravings and desires are STRONG today. I'm trying to keep repeating "no cheating no cheating no cheating".

Someone please kick me in the bum!

You can do it! Just keep some fluids to drink with you as much as possible.

Do your best to avoid group lunches or situations where food is just "there" for the grabbing. You will be on the loosers bench soon!

Spend this time telling yourself you are worth doing this. Write down the reasons why you are doing this.

Realize you are probably getting better nutrition RIGHT NOW, with this pre-op diet than you got in the last several months.

You are not starving to death, you are not going to be malnourished, you are doing the best thing for your heart, body, mind and soul.

Use this time wisely. Learn to sip your Water, clean out your closets. Start looking for smaller clothes and getting your clothes that may already be too large into bins.

Go get your Gas-X, your after surgery Vitamins (ie optisource or whatever). Start walking more.

Remember liquid in and liquid out, and be careful if you get gas, to get to the bathroom, because after a few days, you may think you need to fart and there's Water in there. The words never trust a fart take on new meaning.

Stay busy. Think of the next month or two as just a small obstacle to having a whole new, better life.

Remember the sleeve is only a tool. Don't go into the surgery thinking the sleeve does all the work. It's UP TO YOU, to work the sleeve. Now is the time to dig deep and be proud of what you are doing. If you can make it through this next two weeks, it will make it easier to get through the following month, which then opens up the rest of your life to a new and healthier you.

Believe you are worth this next two weeks and you will do it.

Day 3 & 4 are always the hardest. After that it's all downhill.

If anything stay positive, smile, and the happier and more motivated you go into this surgery, the happier and more motivated you will come out of surgery.

I believe in myself so I didn't cheat, I went into this with full knowledge that I was going to put 100% into it.

Believe in yourself.

I did much better on my pre op diet when I was busy! Work days were the easiest to stick to it. Just think, 3 more days and it will be over.

Change up your habits as much as you can. Switch chairs or, something. Our bad habits are tied into routines...

Oh I so love to kick people in the bum...! ;)

My best advice is to go find something to do. None of us are obese because we're hungry. Hunger has nothing to do with it. Never has, never will. And the more you think about it, the more you're going to want it. Distract yourself, if you can.

And think of all that weight you won't have to lose all over again if you stick with it.

So' date=' what is your diet? My NUT just said less than 30 carbs and 70 Protein. Am I missing something?[/quote']

My diet is 5-6 Protein Shakes a day. If I need it I can have sugar free Jello or popcicles or some broth. And 60 oz of Water daily. Every surgeon is different in what they require.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
