Too Much Exercise!

Recommended Posts

I have been taking Water Aerobics and Zumba classes now the flabby skin is starting to appear. So me and my hubby signed up for a free personal trainer on the military base. Monday was day one core only a little sore but felt good. Tuesday was lower body only and bore was I in a whole lot of muscle pain. When I got in the car I thought I was going to vomit. Now here is the problem, my thighs and buttocks are so sore that I can barely sit, stand, or walk and I have been like this since Tuesday after the workout and today is Friday. I have not been back to see the PT because I am so sore. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I expected to feel some soreness but not like this. On a scale of 1-10 I am an 8 and today is the third day. I have tried stretching several times a day, messaging the areas, Icy-Hot, and Tylenol. Nothing seems to be working. According to my PT we are starting off easy. If this is easy then I am in for a whole lot of hurt. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

My suggestion is adding Yoga to your exercise routine. As we age stretching becomes more and more important. 20 minutes of Yoga a day will make the pain go away. There are half a million DVDs out there for all levels. Get a beginner one and use it in the morning before Breakfast. In just 1 week you will notice a huge difference. The pain melts away.

Yes, this is normal. You really should go back to your pt there are stretches and other things that can be done to relieve the soarness, such as rolling out. Also if your gym has a sauna, steam room or a jacuzzi I recommend trying it for a few minutes as it should result in relaxing your muscles.

Yes it's normal those muscles are sore from your intense workout. The next time it won't hurt as bad, it may last a week or so. When I get back to lifting heavy I always feel that pain.

I remember that happening to me when I started a weight lifting plan after not having exercised basically ever ... even though I only managed about half the reps that first time, I was so sore afterwards that it took me about a week to get my muscles moving normally again. I would ask the PT to go a little easier on you the next few sessions, and eventually you'll be able to move into higher intensity training.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
