She's Baaaaaack (From Surgery--Lol)!

Recommended Posts

CJ--I just had surgery with Dr.Kelly on July 2nd, and I also vomited the entire first two days...and nights!! It was horrible!!! We must have had the same doctor...who wasn't free with pain relief!!

I am not nauseous anymore, but Each time I swallow food or liquid, I get a stomach cramp, and I can feel it going through my system and then it is done. Did you experience this? Sometimes it isn't even after food or liquid consumption. Gas??

Thanks,

Pam

No way!! Not you too??? I thought I was the only one. It's probably too late now, but like i said, things changed after I told Dr, Kelly.

To answer your question, if you had surgery July 2nd, you SHOULD NOT yet be having food!! (I hope you just mis-typed.) But I do recall that for the first 8 days after surgery, when I would swallow liquid, I could feel it go all the way down and then kind of get stuck at a certain spot. But by day 8, that feeling magically went away. So I wouldn't worry too much. :)

Thanks for sharing. I had no vomiting. That must have been awful! My worst problem was gas pain the first day. Haven't had any nausea. All in all, pretty uneventful.

You are hilarious!! Thank you For sharing your ups and downs, so that the rest of us can see what it might be like. I agree, I HATE being sick. I focus on only that as well. Like a Migraine. I'm usually pretty certain I'm going to die.

"What sorta place is this?" I LOL'd. You should write for a living! Maybe you do?

I'm glad you made it out and had a good overall experience.

Thank you soooo much for posting this. I will be sleeved in exactly two weeks and have been having some major anxiety and sleepless nights second guessing my decision. This really helped. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
