Sleeved This Past Monday-Home Terrified Today

Recommended Posts

I had horrible pain in my back while my drain was in. As soon as it was removed I felt so much better. I hope you do to.

I also had back pain at first. I think it was because I was trying to favor my incisions so I was walking hunched over. I feel better everyday & hope you do too. Try sipping warm liquids, a good cup of tea makes me feel the best.

I'm also on a anti-depressant, Effexor 100mg twice a day. I went 33 hours without it from 6/25 to 6/27. It can cause horrible side effects from withdrawal.I didn't have feelings of sadness or any of the feelings you're going through but I was having high blood pressure which I never had before, horrible freezing chills then burning up & the worst dry heaves in my life. In fact I felt like I did in the past when drank to much while out partying in college & ended up barfing. Except this time there was nothing to throw up. I kept counting down the hours when the nurse could give me IV zofran & dilaudid for nausea & pain. Those helped me sleep.

Once you start talking in liquids & can take your anti-depressant again you should start feeling better. I'm 3 days post op & back on my Effexor & the s/e have subsided. If they don't, you should really call your doctor & let them know of the problems you're experiencing. I've had problems in the past with depression, panic attacks & paranoia (mainly due to my OCD causing my brain to think up all kinds of scenarios). It's not fun. I hope things start getting better for you soon.

. I thought I knew what I could eat during this cream stage' date=' but Im at a loss. Suggestions please. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

My dietician told me during whole liquid/cream stage that you can do low fat or non fat yogurt. They recommended drinkable yogurt cos they normally don't have lumps or chunks. I can't eat those cos they're mostly made with aspartame. I asked about Oikos Greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom & she said yeah pop it in the blender & add some skim milk if you need to thin it. Get all the fruit chunks puréed out. I get the one that's fat free cos no aspartame & tastes great to me. Plus it has more Protein than other yogurts.

Also if you are wanting a specific cream Soup of you google that & weight watchers, they have low fat versions of like cheddar cheese Soup, broccoli cheese, cream of mushroom, baked potato soup. Just pop them in the blender to get out the chunks. If you aren't up to fresh cooking, I know I'm definitely not right now, you can find some of those premade like Campbell or healthy choice & just blend them.

Hope that helps with some eating suggestions for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
