Hi everyone! I was just curious if any of you eat sandwiches? The other day I had half a wheat sandwich with turkey and cheese on it no mayonaise. I'm wondering if this is acceptable? It seemed to give me a boost for my workout. I workout 4-5 days a week so I feel like I need a little bit of carbs. My nutritionist mentioned last time I shouldn't have any grains until 75% of my excess weight is lost but I feel like I can make up for it in exercise. What do you guys think?

I say do what's right for you. If you ate it and it felt good for your workout, then you may need the grains. I don't particularly think grains are bad, just make sure you keep with the whole grains. Overall, I think it's the amount of carbs you eat. Yesterday I ate a whole Peanut Butter and jelly sandwich using SF jam, natural peanut butter, and whole grain bread. I hate the whole thing and had an amazing workout afterward!!

Absolutely it is ok. I have only had one sandwich since surgery, it was about a month ago, 1 slice with some tuna on it...couldnt finish it but it wasnt very much, I think it only weighed 5 oz total. Go for it!

I ate a Peanut Butter and jelly sandwich on regular bread about 2 weeks ago when I was sick and I felt better. If your body doesn't reject it- go for it as long as your not excessive is my rule.

Your body needs carbs, even more so if you are exercising. It is a balance, though, for sure. I eat a TON of carbs compared to everyone else here, but I also exercise a lot, too. I found that I cannot maintain a high level of activity without carbs.

So, there's the rub. Yes, eat your sandwich as long as you are exercising. If you are not exercising, then the, "wait until 75% excess body fat gone" is a good idea.

Sandwiches have been my saving grace...on baby tummy, and my wallet (because let's be real: that sandwich is two meals!) I find myself now though making sure I get the Protein and then if I eat some of the bread, great! If not, no big dice either. I treated myself to a half of a half of a whole wheat everything bagel today though with my tuna salad...and let me tell you it was like ANGELS going off on my taste buds. But now, that half of a half is something to rejoice over...instead of eating a whole one with cream cheese...and possibly thinking of a second one. Thank you sleeve!

Carbs are OK. Our bodies need carbs. You just don't want most of your calories coming from carbs, you want them coning from Protein.

But rememer that carbs come from other places than grains/bread.

Here's how different the advice is. I'm 3 mos post op and about 3 weeks ago my NUT got on my case (nicely) for not eating enough grains or carbs. She told me specifically - instead of just an egg, have half an egg and a piece of bread. Or don't take the meat off the sandwich. Or crumble some oat crackers into my yogurt.

I started doing Wasa crackers. I love them, and they feel OK when I eat them. Regular bread doesn't feel great. I tried a piece of a croissant last weekend and felt it for a few hours.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
