When were you able to eat a salad again?

Hey congrats on giving up smoking!!

I started with Tomato at around 5 months--I think it was allowed earlier on my plan, but my sleeve didn't like it. I had to wait for a couple of months after that to get some lettuce in.

Amyytequilahouse

The subject concerning salads has come up before.

I don't understand why eating a salad is some special, and there might be a problem?

others sleevers, can't wait to hear your responses.

btw because of all this discussion - i haven't eaten a salad yet <_<

I actually enjoyed my Chikfila salads right before my sleeve n I've been craving one. I can't have any red meat cause it comes up fast. I thought I could at least look forward to having a salad again lol.

No smoking feels soooo good :)

I started salads at three months, and love them...my sleeve does really well with salad. I waited so long because I had heard so many people say that salad didn't sit well...it seems to be different for everyone and may just be one of those things that you have to try in a small amount and see how it sits with you. :) Congratulations on your loss so far and quitting smoking!

I had a small salad at about 3.5 weeks. But you gotta remember, most salads are nutritionally void (iceberg lettuce is basicly just water)

What does nutritionally void mean?

it means not a lot of nutrients or other nutrition you need like Protein. I started eating small salads a 2 months out with cucumber, Tomato, cheese, and nuts.

I started making small meal salads by the one month mark. I used chopped spinach instead of lettuce for a bit better nutrition along with some Tomato, avo, green onion, bell pepper, carrot, snow pea (typically only 10-15g of each) along with a couple ounces of meat and a little cheese. It was great change from the standard meat, cheese and yogurt staples and kept me sane!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
