smilebig2012 4 Posted June 28, 2012 So I need some help! I was sleeved April 10, 2012. & have lost 32lbs. Well, prior to surgery my primary care physician referred me to an endocrinogist to help monitor my diabetes and pcos: Has anyone seen and Endo ? Or anything? I kinda feel disappointed thinking the doctor would not recommend surgery being they are a specialist and that they really spend time medicating or finding other activities . Aussiegirl 580 Posted June 28, 2012 I saw an endocronologist to get the OK to hav e this surgery. We dont have the amount of hoops to jump through down here, and in my case no one would have argued the point anyway. I also have PCOS, and found the endo a really good source of knowledge about all this and really jelped me understand the condition and the impact PCOS on my body. Mine did give me medication but also leaves it up to me on whether I take them, ie he gave me options on how to eat or taking the meds. I dont take the meds unless I am struggling with food etc. He also talked me into this surgery over banding, and I have to say it was the best advise. kenni 39 Posted June 28, 2012 My endocriologist encouraged me to get wls he is the one that monitors my hormone levels not my surgeon. Having PCOS we struggle a lot with weight and unbalanced hormones and when we are sleeved we only deal with unbalanced hormones because hormones are stored in our fat cells for me has helped having an Endocrinologist
