I did have a drain on one of my incisions, but it was removed before I left the surgical center.

I did have blood thinner shots at the surgical center, but not once I went home.

Thank you all for your input.

My wife and I are both having the sleeve done by Dr. Lyass through OBand and we have been trying to soak up and learn as much as we can from those who have as well.

We're hoping for a September surgery date and are considering having our surgeries on the same day.

I think being sleeved with your spouse is a great idea. My biggest down fall with my fiancé is him understanding that I can't eat the way we used to.

Best of luck to you both - can't wait to see your progress :)

I loved Glenda at the Surgical Center and everytime I've gone back for a follow up, she's given me a huge hug.

If you are having acid issues, don't be afraid to ask Dr. Lyass for a refill of the acid reducer. He prescribes Reglan (for nausea) and a prescription for acid and I took it faithfully and asked for an additional prescription and I had an acid issue exactly one time. Every once in awhile I might have an acid issue now and I take a tums. I don't know if it was because of the prescription or I was just lucky with my body.

I am 5 months, 1 week out from surgery and I've never thrown up, although I have overeaten a few times and had PAIN and I did get the slimes once. That was nasty and I don't ever want a repeat of that.

I had my surgery on a Friday morning and stayed home the whole next week and went back to work the week after. I probably should've stayed home another week only because I was tired. I've been a slow loser and I think I'm in another stall. (Boo!) But during the stalls is when I go down a size or two, so I'll take what I can get. LOL

My husband is supportive, but there's parts that he just doesn't get and that's ok. Ultimately, it's my decision of what I eat and don't eat and it's not his fault if I decide to nibble on something I shouldn't.

Hi Again, I had my surgery in S.Ca and was private pay. I went home with a drain which is unusual and it really wasn't a big deal. I would suggest you two have someone home with you for a day or two. Be sure to have plenty of Jello, popsicles, Protein broth on hand when you get home because you really won't feel up to going out the first week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
