Skane10: one of the side effects of a low carb diet is HA. How much Water do you get in? Is it at least 64oz? If not then it can be contributed to dehydration. I hope this is helpful. Before surgery I would get massive Migraines that were debilitating. Since surgery I have not had any migraines and am very very thankful. But I do get a slight HA when I don't get enough water in me. :)

Dorrie I think I was dehydrated in the hospital believe it or not. My head felt like it was going to split wide open. I noticed my IV bag had the same amount of Fluid all day. Change of shift nurse came in and I pointed that out. She checked and my IV was clamped. I hadn't received any fluid for about 8 hours and nothing to drink because I wasn't on ice chips yet. She opened my IV wide and I got a full bag rather quickly and started eating some ice chips then Gatorade. The headache lessened.

I wasn't able to drink much of anything the 1st few days after surgery. The was excessive but if you walk and try to sip warm brothe, tea or Water it get better. I still don't have much of an appetite on my full liquids but I am able to drink more. I get better with time but you have to walk.

I have to say it is weird having a 1/4 of a popsicle and being full. I feel gassy and keep walking but nothing passing today. Maybe if I lie in bed and put my knees up, that helped before. Last night I had a dream that I had a couple of bites of a hamburger and was full. Weird huh?

That is so frustrating to have an IV bag clamped. Didn't the other nurses check it before? I'm glad that you finally pointed it out to the nurse. You did a great job being an advocate for yourself. I know if I was you I'd want a lot of pain meds to help with a horrible HA. :) Hang in there and hope your home soon. :)
